Over the past year or two, I’ve been diving into some incredible opportunities across different industries, and I’m thrilled to share my new roles: 🔨 Co-owner & Construction Coordinator at Dara Construction: I’ve been overseeing projects from the ground up, perfecting the art of construction management and procurement. Every project has been a new challenge, sharpening my problem-solving skills and ability to deliver under pressure. 💄 Co-owner & Advertising Specialist at Sewar Cosmetics: In the fast-paced beauty world, I’m blending creativity and strategy to create standout campaigns and ensure smooth procurement processes. It’s been an exciting ride, making our brand shine brighter in a competitive market. 🖋 Co-owner & Editor at Focus Point Advertising: Back in the advertising space, I’m leading the charge on creative campaigns that not only catch eyes but drive results. This role has fueled my passion for storytelling and innovation in ways I hadn’t imagined. These experiences have transformed me into a more versatile and dynamic professional, capable of navigating different sectors with confidence. What is the glue that holds a creative agency? TEAM. TEAM. TEAM. It's always the TEAM. After being a part of creative agencies, this is what I've realized. There shouldn't merely be any signs of monotony at all. Creativity can't take place when you're held at gunpoint. Your team should be the waterway where your creative boat can float. You and your teammates can talk for hours about "bhindi" for no good reason at all, but I'm sure you'll end your day with a good brief. It should be a space that inspires you and pushes your creativity. Crazy, unhinged conversations, good music, synchronized energy, taking inspiration from each other and great work. That should be the case. You should be able to go to work in a dragon costume if you want. (Too far Aimie, too far!) Your boss might be a challenge for you, but your teammates should never be The mind of a copywriter/video editor or anyone with a creative role functions way differently than a data scientist per say and the surroundings and settings play a lot in this. If you are looking to land your first job in social media, there are two approaches: ➡ Lone Wolf: consider focusing on becoming an expert in essential skills, including content creation, analytics, and platform-specific strategies ➡ Teamwork: forming a team and litigating each skill to a certain individual, pursuing a vertical approach of team members being responsible for one aspect of the general objective There are obvious pros and cons to each perspective. You may have no choice but going it alone, or you may be an employee at a company and your boss is demanding teamwork. After years of working in a company where my bosses were emphasizing on me and the others establishing a teamwork mentality and me insisting on going it alone in most of my tasks, I can assure you that teamwork is a far better approach. With a twist. All team members should learn all aspects of each others’ tasks, and become experts. Not only to be able to fill in for each other when needed, but to help out in daily duties and tackling all obstacles as a team. Imagine having four content/scenario writers, four VFX specialists, four video editors, four cameramen… all in four members of one team. Establishing such a team can take time and easier said than done. However, it will be worth the effort in the long run. #SocialMedia #Teamwork

It’s been a challenging few months with new clients and growing pains. We’re growing up as a business, learning from our mistakes, making adjustments and doing all the boring (but essential) stuff. I’m used to having to be comfortable with the uncomfortable, and it’s been a sustained period of this - to the point where I was getting close to burnout. Our new team members Joanne Dixon and Jemma C. Have been lights at the end of the tunnel. Fresh energy and a positive force for good. We also have a mentor and Jedi master Mike Carter who has guided us, given us the tough love and sage advice that’s made the last 12 months progressive and profitable. He’s an old boss of mine, personal friend and Vistage Chair - if you want to grow as a business I highly recommend him. Seriously, we’ve seen it first hand. Running and building a business is hard. It’s a different skill set to what I started with. I had the desire and some of the tools, but I had no idea how much energy and mental focus it would take. I’m learning hard lessons every day. The next few months are chokka block with new client projects and exciting opportunities. We’re also learning to say no, and trust in our expertise over financial leverage. We’re in it for the love of solving problems, creating beautiful and effective brands and doing work that gives us fulfilment. That comes first. I forgot I was sharing the post! Jemma has had an impressive start - the kind that gives you a real boost and reminds you what’s important.

🏃♂️ Further Works has just hired it's first employee... Welcome to Further Works Dan. Our new Creative Assistant. 🤝🏼 This feels like a real milestone achievement, and I couldn't be more excited to bring on-board a creative talent who even at a young age has worked with tonnes of exciting clients, and delivered content across multiple mediums and disciplines. To get to know Daniel Caddick, here's some Q's I asked him: ❓ What's your favourite part of being a creative? Definitely the thrill of working as a team and delivering content I am proud of. Every piece of content I create, I put together with the aim of impressing every viewer. It very much feels like a hobby to me rather than work. ❓ Favourite project you've worked on? I would have to say the Rockface advert, that was a serious step up. Being surrounded by industry professionals and such fantastic equipment, it was surreal. ❓ What's got you excited for the future of Further Works? For the company to have shown such progress in such a short time, the work ethic and the drive to deliver the best content. ❓ Most exciting clients you've worked with? I would have to say The Manc or Calculated Performance. I started at both recently doing similar content work to Further Works.
