Cry the beloved Pearl of Africa, this is happening in Central Uganda, Busoga region where young girls cannot access safe sanitary facilities that cost less than 2000 Ushs (less than $1 dollar) a park and have opted to using soil to manage their menstrual cycle. This is an unfortunate consequence of lack of access to proper health infrastructure services. Young girls would be accessing these in schools and health facilities that are well built and stocked. When we talk about opening up infrastructure delivery across all sectors to public scrutiny this is all we mean. It’s unfortunate that our girls are victims of the corrupt system that never thinks about the future. These young girls are tomorrow’s Uganda and Mothers, but see the environment they are growing in that does not support their future. We have Money for irons sheets for no body knows what facilities but can not afford providing our girls a mere park of sanitary supplies of 2000 Ushs a month to ensure their safety, what happened to the national health insurance scheme?
