As we enter the second month of firm ownership, we (Mark Waite and Cara Vasquez) want to reflect on the first month. We are proud of our solid legal work. We are lawyers after all! The financials were surprisingly strong--a feat we didn't expect this early. Yet, owning a firm requires more. Here's a list of what we put in the business in January: 2 new hires 🙋♀️ 2 Saturday morning community/Bar events 👩🏫👨🏫 5 vendor meetings 🖇 3 client happy hours 🧀🍷 1 article interview 📰 1 article covering a new matter 🗞 2 case updates ✍ 15 meals with the legal community and clients 🥗 🍕 10 engagement letters signed ✔ 4 brand new clients 😃😻 6 repeat clients 😍😁 31 days of no regrets😆 Countless internal late afternoon happy hours aka "strategy sessions" 😊 February is a short month, so we better get cranking!

It’s Been Nearly a Year With COVID. Okay, we dealt with that. We shifted our office systems where we needed to so we could be entirely virtual. Truthfully, we love the changes we’ve made, and so do our clients! We’ve massively up-leveled our communication game with regular emails about where we are in the planning process, what you should do now and what’s coming up next. https://bit.ly/3r9gmwB #Planning #Future #IngleLaw #WriteYourWill #Will #TodaysModernFamilies #TakeAction #WillWriting #Quotes #estateplanning #estateplan #lawyer #attorney #estateplanningattorney #wills #trusts #willsandtrusts #estateplanninglawyer

🥁 Bloomberg just debunked my favorite myth of all time, and I'm here to spread the news! 🥁 ⁉ Most of my calls with associates begin with "After years in big-law, I'm looking to transition in-house for better work/life balance." When I peel the onion back, they love the diverse work associated with private practice, but need a billable hour adjustment, and smaller team. 🧐 "Well, my former colleague made the switch and all they talk about is how much free time they now have." The truth is, over the course of the first half of 2023, in-house respondents worked almost two full weeks (78 hours) more than those at law firms. 🤯 The solution I propose in this situation is to consider midsized firms with sophisticated practices and realistic billable hour requirements. Added bonus - many of the firms I partner with offer competitive compensation packages that are more aggressive than in-house counsel positions. If you're in doubt, expose yourself to both options and you may find that your preference will surprise you!

Lawyers - want 2024 to be your best year ever? Do this: (1) Set a goal so big it makes your palms sweat. (2) Tell people around you about the goal. They will fall into three camps - they’ll be excited, they won’t care, or they’ll tell you why you can’t. (3) Cut out everyone who tells you the goal is stupid or you aren't worthy of it. (4) Ask some of the people who got excited for you to hold you accountable for the baby steps towards the goal.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗳 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗺? 🟢 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆: How to distinguished the most profitable place to place your focus. During World War II, warplanes would return from bombing missions and mid-air dog fights with bullet holes all over them. The plane engineers studied the planes to see which areas were most hit by enemy bullets. Initially, they worked to strengthen the most commonly hit areas of the planes to lower the number of planes that were shot down and didn’t return home. Abraham Wald, a great thinker and mathematician then pointed out that maybe there was another way to look at what was happening. That maybe, the reason certain areas of the planes weren't hit with bullets was that the planes that were hit in those areas did not return. This new way of thinking led to the armour being made stronger on the parts of the planes where there were no bullet holes. How does this apply to distinguishing the most profitable place to place your focus in your firm? Think about how you are approaching increasing your profits. Are you seeing the hours you bill as being what makes you the most profit and thus need to do even more billable work? Or can you see that investing in supporting associates (instead of focusing on your billable hours) to bill multiple hours between them at once is maybe more profitable? ❓What insight did you gain from reading this today❓ 💰I help law firm partners and CEOs increase their profits and reduce their workload. I'll show you how to increase your team’s billable hours with strategies that grew my client’s PROFIT by 89.15% (£596,734) in 6 months. ✅ Here’s your chance; send me a message here and let’s share ideas.
