We need to generate £2m this year just to stand still and yet there are over 2,000 children bereaved of a parent who served every year. What other organization outside of the DoD has a supporting non-profit that offers next-to-no questions asked interest-free loans and grants? Active Duty friends and colleagues, consider this: Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society is almost entirely volunteer-run, with 90% of donations going directly to Sailors, Marines, and their families. It gave out 50 million just last year alone. Unfortunately though, annual donations continue to decline. Last year's fund drive only received $750,000 from Hampton Roads Area commands. We can turn this around though! With as little as $5 per month, per service member, NMCRS could collect well over 18 million during this year's campaign.
