The Chicago Fire Department is taking a significant step forward in PPE care and maintenance by adopting LION's innovative RedZone℠ CO2 cleaning technology as an enhancement to their advanced water-based cleaning for all 7,000 turnouts. This new technology will be used twice a year to ensure the cleanest gear possible for all Chicago firefighters. The first department in the U.S. to take this step. RedZone CO2 has been used as a cleaning method by departments across the U.S. for years, effectively removing harsh contaminants from sources such as lithium-ion batteries, paint, diesel, and more. In the past two years, departments have saved over $750,000 in replacement costs for gear that would typically be condemned due to exposure to harsh contaminants. This cutting-edge method eliminates up to 98% of harmful chemicals, protecting our brave firefighters while also promoting greener operations.
