“Neuromodulation is a non-pharmacological approach to dealing with patients with migraine [devoid of side effects and complications caused by conventional medicines]. A notable advancement in this space is Remote Electrical Neuromodulation (REN). REN presents a non-invasive method for alleviating migraines by utilizing a compact, wearable device that administers precise electrical pulses to the nerves associated with migraine headaches. This device is user-friendly, allowing individuals to customize and activate it as needed for personalized intervention.” As #MigraineAwarenessWeek continues, read more about recent literature on the effectiveness of REN supported by clinically significant results, including reductions in both migraine intensity and frequency among users. We are proud to be able to offer a REN-based USFDA-approved CE-mark certified #drugfree #noninvasive migraine management solution in the form of Nerivio® for those living with migraine, aged 12 years and above*. This is another area we've followed closely over the years in neurology: #DeepBrainStimulators. Abbott obtains clearance on their Liberta RC DBS, as an intervention for patients with movement disorders. Says Abbott on their innovation: "the smallest rechargeable DBS device on the market, approximately the “height and width of a smartwatch face”. Under standard settings, the system requires the fewest recharges, at 10 recharge sessions a year" "The Liberta RC DBS system works with Abbott’s NeuroSphere™ Virtual Clinic, which allows individuals to communicate remotely with physicians, ensure proper settings and functionality, and receive new treatment settings. Users will be able to control the system via an Abbott supplied patient controller or a secure, compatible iOS device" https://lnkd.in/ez7C5apN #Neurology #DeepBrainStimulation #MovementDisorders #Abbott #Neuroscience #Innovation #Healthcare #Regulatory #ConnectedHealth #Specialty #BrainHealth #MarketIntelligence

A new wearable device for heart failure patients, called the Sensinel Cardiopulmonary Management System, may help detect fluid overload early and reduce hospital admissions. The device uses multiple sensors to measure physiological parameters and can detect changes in fluid levels and weight in patients. Researchers found that the device performed well in a trial and could be used by patients at home for less than five minutes each day, providing a non-invasive alternative to expensive implanted monitors. Researchers are hopeful that this innovative system can help prevent costly hospital stays by allowing early detection and medical intervention. The Sensinel CPM system has shown promise in detecting fluid overload in heart failure patients, and further large trials are planned to validate its effectiveness in reducing hospitalizations. The device's ease of use and ability to communicate with healthcare professionals via a mobile app make it a practical tool for monitoring patients' health at home. #HeartFailure #MedicalInnovation #HealthTech #HospitalPrevention #WearableTech https://lnkd.in/etNN64aN

We are pleased to share that our recent EpiWatch publication in Epilepsy & Behavior is now live! This initial study demonstrates the validation of tonic-clonic seizure monitoring on a popular consumer wearable (Apple Watch) in daily use for individuals living with epilepsy. EpiWatch exhibited an extremely low false alarm rate in both the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) and ambulatory environments over a large participant population. The device also exhibited excellent sensitivity in this study. Thanks to the Band Foundation and Johns Hopkins Department of Neurology for supporting this study, and to all of the authors whose efforts led to a successful outcome.
