Solaris is advancing its 2026 Strategic Plan with its first U.S. contract for zero-emission buses (ZEBs). The deal, signed with King County Metro, marks a key step in the company's entry into the North American market. King County Metro serves Seattle and 34 surrounding cities in Washington. #TransitIsWhy... STA committed to making significant strides in its zero-emissions journey between 2022 and 2024. In 2022, the first four #BatteryElectricBuses were deployed on the Monroe-Regal Route 4. In 2023, 11 battery-electric buses debuted to launch the new City Line, making it the US's first five-door all-electric #BusRapidTransit (BRT) route. By 2024, Route 4 received a fully electrified treatment with ten battery-electric buses, establishing STA's first electrified High-Performance Transit (HPT) route.

The good message to start into the year 2025! The charging solution for heavy trucks without significant investment in power grid is ready to ship! Availability of sufficient charging capacity for E-Trucks is one of the limiting factors for the electrification of heavy duty vehicles. The technology is available and our consortium has prepared a field tested solution ready to use!

I’m excited to share that our conference paper, “Multi-objective electric bus scheduling problem considering multi-vehicle types,” has been officially published by IISE! In this study, we tackle the Electric Bus Scheduling Problem (EBSP), focusing on the complex transition from diesel to electric bus fleets. Our research introduces a comprehensive model that addresses the multi-depot and multi-vehicle type scheduling challenges within urban transit networks. By using a genetic algorithm, we optimize the scheduling and charging processes for electric buses, minimizing both fleet size and operational costs. A case study based on a real-world Canadian transit network validates our approach, demonstrating how electric bus fleets can be managed more efficiently.
