Earlier this year, during a film shoot at Kathleen Valley, we came across Fifi Harris, a member of the Tjiwarl people, who are the Traditional Owners of the land where our Kathleen Valley operation is. Fifi was visiting country with her sons, Joel Maitland & Troy Harris, while discussing partnership opportunities with Liontown. While there, they were digging for honey ants and looking for bush food. We were lucky enough that Fifi didn't mind us asking a heap of questions and showing us how to dig for honey ants. We learnt about Fifi’s traditions and culture and discovered so much about her heritage and the environment around us. True to their name, the liquid the ants produce was just like honey! A sweet and delicious nectar. Thank you to Fifi for sharing her knowledge and experience with us, and for agreeing to be filmed so that we could share it with all of you. #LTR #NAIDOC #NAIDOC2024 #KeepTheFireBurning #HoneyAnts #BushTucker #KathleenValley #Goldfields #WesternAustralia #Heritage #Mining #Lithium #CriticalMinerals

That was a bloody good video. Fifi should start a YouTube series! I learnt pretty much everything I know about identifying bush food working in the same area. Sampled some too thanks to Troy Harris.

This is great, thanks for sharing the story of bush food around Kathleen Valley, I am going to look for honey ants and dulan berries with my kids around the mulga tree, the only catch we might face is the dig permit 😀, surely that could be on our next school holiday itinerary embracing the oldest culture

This is such a wonderful video and it has brought back so many fond memories of growing up in Leonora! We were so lucky to be shown bush foods by our local aboriginal people, it was one of the most incredible places to grow up as a kid and I loved learning about the culture. We need more of this in schools (especially city schools!). Thanks for sharing.
