#inspireinclusion - one volunteer hour at a time! I #volunteer time because it's a reminder that each moment invested creates ripples of change. It's not just about the tasks we undertake; it's about fostering a sense of belonging and empathy. As #internationalwomensday is approaching, I wonder how to inspire inclusion in the communities around me. This year's theme, "#InspireInclusion," ignited a spark. I realized that inclusivity isn't a grand gesture; it starts with the everyday actions of individuals. To make an #impact this International Women's Day, let's encourage open conversations. Share stories of #resilience, amplify diverse voices, and #celebrate 🎊 achievements regardless of gender. Volunteer to #mentor, organize workshops, or simply be a supportive #ally. We could do this, right? 🙌 #Inclusion isn't a one-time event; it's a continuous commitment. By volunteering time and energy, we contribute to creating communities 🌎where everyone feels valued. So, let's break biases, build bridges, and inspire a world where #equality and #inclusion are not just ideals but daily realities. Together, we can make a lasting impact—one volunteer hour at a time. Share your stories to #inpire everyone around you. 🌸 Why Community Matters for Women 🌸 Community is essential for our lives and well-being. It provides a space where we can be seen, heard, and supported in our unique journeys. Whether through small circles of close friends or larger networks, these connections offer transformative experiences. At retreats, for example, women can share in a nonjudgmental space, fostering deep bonds and personal growth. The same principles can be applied to building your own community. Remember to create a safe, trustworthy space where vulnerability is welcomed. 🌟 Key Elements to Build a Strong Community: -Safety: Ensure everyone feels heard and not judged. -Holding Space: Witness experiences without offering unsolicited advice. -Vulnerability: Encourage honest expression of feelings. Building a community takes time, but it's worth the effort. It's about going beyond surface-level interactions and truly understanding each other’s struggles and joys. Want to be part of a supportive community? Join us at HER Network and let's thrive together! Some balked at the idea of teaching, supporting, encouraging, and coaching, white women on how to advance racial equity. Some questioned why I was so nice to white women as a part of this approach, accusing me of coddling and engaging with the enemy. Some also, bizarrely, questioned my credentials to even launch into this work. 🤷🏿♀️ Others questioned the efficacy, worried that white women may do more harm in the racial equity space than good. There were others yet who questioned the model of teaching white women to LEAD in the space of racial equity, not just serve as allies. White women have, as their greatest currency in the pursuit of racial equity, their proximity and already existing influential relationships with white men. We teach them how to leverage all of that and while there are a number of folks who will never understand this approach, and who, in fact disagree with it, I am unmoved by that naysaying and ever confident that this approach will yield efficacy and impact in incredibly potent and accelerated ways. And I’m thankful for the companies and organizations who said yes, early on to this as an idea and even more thankful to our members and participants who said yes to being a part of this work. There is nothing like this offered anywhere, and yet this particular approach will change the world. We meet white women where they are, teach them how to advocate in the places that they are already in and support them along the way. Not only do we have 1000 members now, we’ve got another 100,000 that follow us on TikTok to learn about this work. And to think, we’re not even a year old. I couldn’t be more proud of the women who are investing their time, energy, money, and effort to align with RAARE Woman Collective and create a world where racism can’t live. Thank you! https://lnkd.in/gPWyyJjs

Inclusivity can manifest in various forms, and sometimes it takes a simple conversation to spark a transformative change. Recently, during a discussion in our support group, one member shared an enlightening experience. His daughter questioned why only her mother was always seen cooking, prompting reflection on entrenched stereotypes. What followed was truly remarkable. The father, recognizing the importance of challenging norms, took it upon himself to share the cooking responsibilities. This shift towards a more equitable household not only empowered the daughter to question stereotypes but also fostered a sense of belonging for everyone involved. This incident served dual purposes: it served as a role model for the children, illustrating the importance of equality in relationships, and it alleviated the burden on the wife, allowing her to thrive in her own space. As an advocate for various causes, including women's empowerment, witnessing such a small yet significant change within a household fills me with hope. It's these moments of individual action that pave the way for a more inclusive society. #inclusivity #genderequality #empowerment #familyvalues

80% of Organ Donors Are Women, 80% of Recipients Are Men: What Does This Tell Us? A surprising yet telling statistic in the world of organ donation reveals that 80% of organ donors are women, while 80% of recipients are men. This discrepancy highlights a fundamental truth about women’s empathetic nature and their willingness to take risks to save others. Women, often driven by a deep sense of care and responsibility, are more likely to step forward when it comes to making life-saving decisions. Whether it’s for a family member or a stranger, they show remarkable bravery, putting others’ well-being ahead of their own. This speaks not only to women’s capacity for empathy but also their readiness to take action when it matters most. This disparity invites reflection on how we can encourage more individuals—regardless of gender—to embrace this life-saving generosity. How do we foster a culture where everyone feels equally empowered to contribute to the gift of life? #Organdonation #Empathy #Leadership #Healthcare #Gender #SocialImpact #LifeSavingActs

The nonprofit leadership gender gap is something that doesn't just hurt the women looking to get roles in leadership positions, but it actually has wider effects on the industry as a whole. These diversity and inclusion issues extend over to BIPOC and LGBTQ+ women too as the intersections between identities often have a negative correlation with holding leadership positions. This isn't a condemnation of nonprofits, but rather a welcome encouragement of embracing forward-thinking programs that hope to solve these systemic problems long-term. #Nonprofit #Leadership #Diversity #Justice

Please stop asking women and those in underrepresented groups to do things for free. If you are not friends with people (and you don’t already do the back-and-forth friend thing supporting each other), then you need to compensate them in some way. If you make money at all- through vendors, tickets, etc- and it’s not a friendly swap in some way, then pay people. Everything else is just called greed which goes back to control and power. Stop widening the gaps and do your part to shorten the gaps. Stop trying to sell “exposure” because that only really works for those in the highest levels of privilege. #privilege #payforexpertise #women #underrepresentedgroups #speaking #conferences #speakers

Founder / Director at Elijah's Hope CIC and Carers Collective. Helping unpaid carers to boost their wellbeing, ease their isolation and to become empowered.
Today we celebrate mothers, sisters, daughters, aunties, wives and friends who make our lives better and stronger. While appreciating every single female, I want to shed some light on the parent-carer and unpaid caring responsibilities that often fall to women. In the UK there are 5 million unpaid carers with 3 million of those being women. Overall there are 7.7 million parent-carers with 52% of those being female. Let that information sink in for a second. These numbers are rising each day and this is what my work is all about, helping these women to handle their daily stress while they’re doing life-changing work. A massive way we can all help is by spreading awareness of this issue and sharing our stories. So, if you have a story and would like to share it with me, I would love to hear it. By sharing our stories we can inspire young women to achieve great things. #FemaleEmpowerment #IWD2024 #InternationalWomensDay #PowerfulWomen
