As we mark the 23rd anniversary of September 11th, I am deeply grateful to G-d for His kindness to me on that horrific Tuesday. I am forever thankful for my wonderful wife, amazing children, incredible family and friends, and the coolest grandson, who keep me focused on what is important in life. They remind me every day of the preciousness of each moment, and the value of love and connection. Although more than two decades have passed since that fateful day, the attacks on the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and the crash in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, continue to weigh heavily on our hearts. It was a day that darkened America's doorstep, forever altering our lives and reshaping our sense of security. The shock, fear, and grief of that day remain fresh for many of us who lived through it. Today, we also acknowledge that the war on terror persists throughout the globe. We see its effects in conflicts that still rage, in the security measures that have become a part of daily life, and in the lives of soldiers and civilians who continue to face the threat of terrorism. It serves as a stark reminder that the values we hold dear—freedom, democracy, and peace—are not guaranteed but must be defended with vigilance and courage. As we reflect on that day, I honor the heroism and sacrifice of our military, police, firefighters, and first responders. Their courage continues to inspire us, and their sacrifices have left an indelible mark on our nation’s soul. We also remember those who have died from 9/11-related illnesses—heroes who may have survived the attacks but succumbed to the lingering effects of the toxic dust and debris that filled the air at Ground Zero. #FrancisScottKeyBridge in Baltimore, MD collapses in the middle of the night due to collision with a container ship. As a US Navy surface warfare officer, this is the one of the worst things that could ever happen. We spend tens and sometimes even hundreds of hours ensuring our #navigation track is safe especially as we are entering harbor understanding the effects of wind and current on our ship along our track. This is absolutely tragic and my heart goes out to all the families of the loved ones affected by this tragic accident. Not only #Baltimore, but the entire #DMV area, east coast, and many parts of #UnitedStated and the world will be affected via 2nd, 3rd, and 4th order effects of supply chain issues this will cause. While no foul play is currently suspected, as a #cybersecurity professional this brings to light just how critical and potentially catastrophic something happening to one of the hundreds of thousands of ships that transit in and out of port daily. These behemoths of human engineering and ingenuity are incredibly #vulnerable. If one was able to manipulate the COG (course over ground) vs heading off a ship weighing tens or even hundreds of thousands of pounds as it were entering port, this could be catastrophic. I think about how many times on a US Navy #destroyer I navigated under the #Coronadobridge in #SanDiego. On USS Hopper(DDG-70), we passed under many bridges on deployment and even got to pass under #SanFrancisco’s famous #GoldenGateBridge to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the commissioning of USS Hopper. Should politics be discussed in a professional business environment? 🤔 Here's a thought ... As children, we were taught by our parents that there are 3 key Taboos surrounding conversation among 'groups that gather'. Never speak about: 1) Politics 2) Money 3) Religion I would hope by now that years into life experience proves why. No better example than the current state of "CANADA". 💁♀️ 1) Make the people work 50 hours + a week. 2) Push the 'shiny objects' to ensure debt to keep them there. 3) Enrol all children into the government controlled school system to learn only what will serve the government upon graduation. Feed them poor diets. Restrict their physical activity. Solve with Ritalin & anti-depressants. 3) Stress the adults out so bad that they only want to come home & crash in front of a mind control device that pumps 'narratives' into their exhausted alcohol or other drug substance brains to make sure they stay exactly where you want them. 👊 Sit down. Shut up. Pay your taxes. Repeat. ✅ Professionals should be wise enough to know this. Right? 🤔
