I really appreciate the fundraising email below from David Hogg's Leaders We Deserve. Here's what I like: ✅ Incorporates a timely deadline ✅ Calls out scammy fundraising emails ✅ Explains how and why they're different ✅ Makes clear exactly what donations will go toward ✅ Explains why grassroots donations are so important to them

So many business owners could get behind a project such as this. These developments going up everywhere in Truro, but I have not heard anything about affordable housing in the mix. There are so many of our families, friends and neighbours are homeless with not enough beds. Folks don't need a great big space...only big enough for a bed, small kitchen area and a bathroom with a sink, toilet and upright shower. This would get people out of the cold and off the street for the winter. Have the Town donate some land for a project, donations of materials to build from local businesses, volunteers to come together with their skills. tools and the willingness to help...you never know, you might be helping a friend who is hitting rock bottom. Think about this...it can be done if everyone brings whatever the can to help. Don't have another cold winter watching folks sleeping on benches or behind buildings...the people of Truro are better than that.

I think it's really important to show kids that businesses do more than "just business"! That values matter and that giving back to the community IS part of everyday business operations. How will you share your values on April 25th this year? #takeyourchildtoworkday

This initiative resonates deeply with my belief in nurturing environments where every voice is heard and valued. When we equip students to identify signs of depression, suicide, grief, abuse, or bullying, we're not just giving them knowledge – we're giving them agency. They become instrumental in supporting one another, saving lives in the process. Enabling these conversations creates a culture where mental health is not stigmatized but rather openly addressed and supported. It's heartening to witness initiatives like these fostering a safe space for our community to share their struggles and seek help without fear or hesitation. When we equip young people with the necessary tools, we're not only shaping a more resilient generation but also building a community that prioritizes mental well-being.
