Conversation. It is important to master the art of conversation as a business owner or entrepreneur. And yet... So many people expect to get sales without having an actual conversation. For instance, yesterday I was educating someone in the DMs on LinkedIn abotu his approach. I know you have probably already experienced this. Please tell me you are NOT this person, though. The conversation goes something like this... Hi I am (Name). I help (Who) with (What). I saw that you (whatever you do). I can help you (whatever) and I (something else) I I I I I - wow! It amazes me how many people connect and never engage in a REAL conversation. It is only all abotu them and what they can do. They are not interested in what you do, and they never ask you anything about it, and yet, they just arrogantly KNOW they are the ones to help you. Amazing! And then the guy yesterday arrogantly told me how many "leads" he generated and basically called me stupid for not wanting to hire him (not in those words, but he might as well have said that). There are so many things wrong with that approach. 1. It is so obvious that you are only a number to them and not a human being. 2. It was all about him. 3. Since he skipped the conversation to pitch, he DID NOT QUALIFY ME! 4. When I told him NO, he insisted on trying to sell to me - YOU SHOULD NEVER HAVE TO CONVINCE SOMONE TO WORK WITH YOU! 5. I pointed out that if counted me as a "lead," then all those "leads" he quoted to me are worthless because I was obviously NOT a qualified lead for him, and I am sure many of the others he was claiming to have were not qualified either. Here is the biggest problem with that exchange>>> He wanted to pitch BEFORE HAVING A CONVERSATION! A Conversation ✅ Warms someone up to want to work with you by building know like and trust. ✅ Helps you understand what their real problem is and how your solution fits in. ✅ Helps you understand what they have already done to solve the problem. ✅ Allows you to discover IF they want the solution you have and IF they are READY to pay NOW. You see, until all of the above questions have been answered, a lead is NOT qualified. A "lead" is a lot different than a QUALIFIED lead. So, someone can quote you a number of leads all day long and that does not mean those leads will be helpful to you. I show you how to attract QUALIFIED leads and convert them into clients.
