When I posted about my new position at UNH, some people wondered about my role at Keslar Insurance and how that will play into my future. Honestly, it aligns perfectly.
We are all busy. All the time. Busy is " having a great deal to do. " And then I think—am I crazy to be busy with two jobs? Both can take a lot of time, yet both leave me feeling fulfilled.
So yes, busy is real. And sometimes it's ok.
I never would have thought that I'd happily be working two jobs. Why do I do it? And why am I grateful for it? The coolest thing is that I've finally reached a point in my career where I can focus on the things that bring me joy. Creating value for others brings me joy. Being creative brings me joy. Sharing knowledge and educating brings me joy.
I'm fortunate. I can choose to work in two professional roles: Business Co-Owner and Teacher. I get the opportunity to do really cool things at each.
On one hand, I get to co-own a business with my husband. We get to serve clients, make their lives easier, keep them safe, and often save them money. We get to work with incredible staff, and we get to build a culture that supports them and celebrates them. While my internal tasks focus on marketing and HR, I also have the opportunity to create networks, support other business owners, and make connections in the community.
On the other hand, I have the privilege of sharing my 30+ years of business experience with some of the most incredible college students. I can proactively encourage them to be curious, innovative, thoughtful, and inspired. I can help provide them with relevant and useful business and life tools to fuel their future success.
I love that my two worlds intersect all the time. I can not only bring my business experiences to the classroom, but my network has also supported the students by coming in and sharing their insights, experiences, and expertise. Every time this happens, I see such magic in the classroom.
While at Keslar Insurance, I find myself thinking more strategically. I find myself taking my advice, and allowing myself to be more creative, innovative, and thoughtful.
Now that I think of it, that's only two of my jobs. I also have the privilege of parenting three grown children who need me in a very different way. I'm now their cheerleader, willing soundingboard, and proud supporter. I'm also a wife, a dog mom, a friend, a daughter, and more.
And all this combines to create joy and a life that I love.
So if you have an interest in working with Business students from UNH's Paul College, need help with personal or business insurance, or anything in between, I'm happily here for you.
