I am human... My multiracial heritage often renders me invisible to some, as if my existence strips away the privilege of feeling offended or unaccepted. Comments like "you're not Black enough" or "that's your white side talking" further emphasize this sentiment. People's perceptions of my identity often overshadow the fact that I am, first and foremost, human. This invisibility underscores a deeper issue: the longing for future generations to experience love, acceptance, and liberation within their families and beyond. It's perplexing how we can harbor animosity towards those we see daily based on physical attributes yet profess love for an unseen divine entity. Perhaps we extend a little tenderness towards one another, just as we believe in the ripple effects of faith or good karma. Navigating a multiracial identity has been a journey marked by feeling like an outsider to both sides of my racial heritage, haunted by the pain of the past. For some, I represent a reminder of that pain, while others embody hope. Yet, I also face the challenge of not feeling "enough" for specific individuals. Finding a sense of love and belonging within a racial identity space is complex, especially when longing for acceptance. Despite this, my upbringing taught me the importance of self-love and resilience. While seeking secure attachment like everyone else, I grapple with the reality that societal norms often fail to embrace individuals like me due to physical attributes. Therefore, I've learned to cultivate a sense of belonging, allowing me to bounce back from exclusion and find strength in self-acceptance. When I hear people talk about creating spaces of belonging, I can't help but question if they're considering what it's like never truly to feel like you belong. But instead of just wondering, let's become love warriors and actively create those spaces where everyone feels seen, valued, and cherished. Let's challenge the norms, break down barriers, and build bridges of love and understanding. Together, we can cultivate a world where belonging isn't just a dream but a reality for all. https://lnkd.in/gDYhfyr6
