Unlocking Thacker Pass: Lithium Americas-General Motors Joint Venture. GM will acquire a 38% asset-level ownership stake in Thacker Pass for $625 million in cash and letters of credit. The JV Transaction replaces the GM Tranche 2 common equity investment, avoiding common equity dilution.   Jonathan Evans, President and CEO of Lithium Americas said, “Our relationship with GM has been significantly strengthened with this joint venture as we continue to pursue a mutual goal to develop a robust domestic lithium supply chain by advancing the development of Thacker Pass. Today’s joint venture announcement is a win-win for GM and Lithium Americas. GM’s JV Investment demonstrates their continued support and helps us to unlock the previously announced $2.3 billion DOE Loan. This week is National Drive Electric Week (NDEW), a nationwide celebration to raise awareness of the many benefits of all-electric and plug-in vehicles. Domestic mineral projects such as Lithium Americas' Thacker Pass are securing the supply chain and supporting American-made EVs.    As a leader in the critical mineral space, Lithium Americas and our President & CEO, Jonathan Evans, were chosen to receive the Supply Chain Groundbreaker Award during the ZETA Education Fund’s 2024 EV Awards Dinner at Union Station in Washington, DC last week.   Zero Emission Transportation Association (ZETA) is a federal coalition focused on advocating for 100% EV sales. ZETA is committed to enacting policies that drive EV adoption, create hundreds of thousands of jobs, secure American global EV manufacturing leadership, drastically improve public health and significantly reduce carbon pollution.   The Supply Chain Groundbreaker Award is given to individuals who demonstrate a fervent recognition of the importance of critical minerals to the electric vehicle supply chain. The ZETA team was excited to recognize Lithium Americas’ Thacker Pass project as a leader in domestic lithium production, having recently secured the largest ever conditional loan guarantee for a strategic material project from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).   The theme of the 2024 EV Awards was ‘Power of American Progress'. The event aimed to educate attendees and spotlight the EV sector businesses, industry leaders and elected officials who are working together to make America a leader in manufacturing and job growth.   The EV Awards program shed light on how investments in the EV industry are stimulating state economies across the country and having tangibly positive impacts on the lives of hardworking Americans.   Throughout his career, Jon has remained a steward of critical mineral development in the U.S. In his current role, he continues to be a visionary of the critical minerals landscape, navigating its complex regulatory framework and future-focused business endeavors to ensure American competitiveness in the clean energy sector.

We are proud to create new jobs and bring economic stimulus to northern Nevada by sustainably developing Thacker Pass. A study conducted by University of Nevada, Reno Extension has estimated the financial and economic impacts of Thacker Pass for construction of Phase 1 and Phase 2, as well as for operations of the lithium mine and processing plants, based on the Thacker Pass Nov 2022 Feasibility Study.   During construction, the impacts in Humboldt County are estimated that every $1 of $LAC capital investment will generate an additional $0.26 of spending and every direct construction job created by $LAC will generate an additional 2.3 jobs. For the state of Nevada, these impacts increase to an additional $0.76 of spending and generate an additional 6.0 jobs. Thacker Pass has new car smell and our Winnemucca office has been outfitted with an EV charging station! We have recently added a new Chevy Silverado EV to our fleet at Thacker Pass! Our goal is to sustainability develop Thacker Pass to enable a North American lithium supply chain to electrify our automobiles and progress the transitions to cleaner energy sources. We are loving this Silverado EV pick-up truck as it commutes between our Winnemucca office and Thacker Pass site, as well as handle unpaved roads going through ruts, deep mud and inclement weather. We are saving money on gas and reducing our emissions, one EV at a time. #lithium #Nevada #EVs

Industrial engineering is one the fastest-growing engineering fields, and we’re excited to support the University of Nevada, Reno’s new degree program launched this fall - the only program of its kind in Nevada! LAC’s General Manager, Hugh Broadhurst, is serving on the steering committee for the new program. Thacker Pass will require industrial engineers to handle functions, such as discrete event modeling (a method to simulate the operation of a system as discrete sequence of events in time) and stochastic modeling (a computational approach used to model systems of processes that involve randomness or uncertainty). We are proud to support the next generation of engineering professionals. During the week of #LaborDay, we thank the people from many different fields and backgrounds who are enabling the transition to a clean energy future. We're grateful for our dedicated and growing workforce as we advance Thacker Pass.    Our mining contractor, Sawtooth Mining, LLC recently added six new heavy equipment operators to the team! Our Nevada team celebrated Labor Day by participating in the 3rd annual Labor Festival, hosted by the Northern Nevada Central Labor Council, at Idlewild Park in Reno. Attendees at the family-friendly festival learned about new trades, asked representatives about their day-to-day jobs and benefits, as well as met and learned from a variety of local union representatives.   Senator Catherine Cortez Masto attended to support both the event and local unions in celebration of workers, families and the work we're doing together at every level to give Nevadans new opportunities to succeed.   Lithium Americas and North America's Building Trades Unions, Building and Construction Trades Council of Northern Nevada are working together to build the skill labor workforce for the construction of Thacker Pass. We were pleased to advance the conversation on how to utilize labor’s robust apprenticeship programs to train the workforce that we’ll need. Lithium Americas and Bechtel Corporation recently hosted North America's Building Trades Unions (NABTU) representatives for a tour of Thacker Pass and the Workforce Hub. We’re pleased to have a Project Labor Agreement in place with NABTU for construction of Phase 1. At peak construction, Thacker Pass will employ approx. 1,800 skilled workers. NABTU, along with the Northern Nevada Building Trades (BCTNN) are expected to de-risk labor availability by placing skilled workers during construction. LAC will offer optional housing for construction workers at our Workforce Hub (WFH) facility located in Winnemucca, NV. The complex is designed specifically with safety and comfort in mind and will have approx. 2,000 individual rooms with bathrooms, a full commercial kitchen, dining room, gym, commissary and meeting rooms. Prior to developing the WTF, we held public townhall meetings and met with Humboldt County commissioners and officials and City of Winnemucca’s mayor, city manager and city council members, as well as various business owners to provide information about the WFH and address any questions or community concerns.
