For training programs, evaluating their efficacy is paramount. Here is a list of 5 key metrics which help us do that. Course Completion Rates, helps us monitor the proportion of participants who see the training through to its conclusion. A robust LMS helps in capturing this data esp for virtual programs. Knowledge Retention, is a Kirkpatrick L2 (Learning) metric which can be tracked or measured through a quiz or assessment before & after, difference in scores helps us measure it. Learner Satisfaction, captured in post-training surveys, ensures that training experience is engaging & beneficial,a scale of 4 gives us better results when compared with a scale of 5. Behavioral Change this metric measures the learning implementation at the workplace,tools like ResultsLab www.resultslab.in (Kirkpatrick L3 tool) gives a platform to participants to apply the learning & helps in tracking & giving us insights. ROI, which is net benefits divided by total costs. This can be done by assigning a dollar value to the benefits post the training. It helps us quantify the financial benefits of the training relative to its costs. Lastly, Learning Analytics from the LMS gives us metrics like module engagement and interactive performance, offering a detailed lens through which we can refine and enhance the training program. Tracking these metrics not only elevates the quality of training but also underscores its strategic value to stakeholders, ensuring that learning and development initiatives are both impactful and closely aligned with overarching organizational goals. Many leaders in Learning & Development are adopting the 70:20:10 model to shift their focus on enhancing and supporting performance throughout their organizations. This approach effectively extends the emphasis on learning directly into the workflows. ❓ 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟕𝟎:𝟐𝟎:𝟏𝟎 𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥? The 70:20:10 model advocates extending learning and development beyond traditional classroom and eLearning formats. It emphasizes: • 70% of learning through experiential learning and workplace support, • 20% through social learning and interaction with others, • 10% through structured or formal learning solutions. This approach aims to foster resilient workforces and promote cultures of continuous learning within organizations. 🎯 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟕𝟎%, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐢𝐦 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟏𝟎𝟎% Since learning tends to be most impactful when it happens close-to-the time and context of application, it is advisable to prioritize the 70% in developing solutions for performance issues. This approach may challenge the traditional thinking of many L&D professionals. Historically, the focus has been on the 10%: identifying performance challenges (often labelled as 'training issues') and choosing between face-to-face or digital solutions. Effective design using the 70:20:10 model hinges on comprehensive planning that covers all learning needs, also known as the 100%. This approach recognizes that successful solutions combine elements aimed at the 70, 20, and 10. It's essential not to exclusively prioritize the 10% initially. Therefore, designing with a focus on desired performance outcomes and the holistic 100% expands both strategic thinking and practical implementation beyond the scope of the 10%. Ultimately, maintaining a clear emphasis on achieving performance objectives while structuring a cohesive solution integrating 70, 20, and 10 elements in sequence is pivotal.
