✨ Empowering Leaders to Activate High-Performing Learning Organizations | 🎙️ Chain of Learning Podcast Host | Strategic Advisor - Facilitator - Coach | 🎤 Keynote Speaker | 📚 Award-Winning Author | Learning Enthusiast✨
“People use tools before they even know what problem they need to solve.” This was the takeaway quote today from my conversation with Michel Baudin during one of our periodic local get togethers. Such a true statement … and one that can be applied to explain the change with many attempts at improvement and innovation. Today’s conversation ranged from stories from industry 4.0, this history of the word “quality”, and how an over focus on precision actually isn’t always the right approach (you need to know the tolerance first). I’ve known Michel since the early days of my #lean journey (over 15 years ago at least) when we met at a local supplier to NUMMI, where I’d organized a learning gemba visit for my team of performance improvement specialists when we were just getting started on our lean journey at the hospital I worked at. And we’ve continued to get together and learn together since then. I value his technical expertise - and we share an international perspective. Who are your learning partners who compliment your background?

Today we kicked off an incredibly successful Kaizen workshop series, co-lead by HR & Operations reviewing one of our major FORD cells. The team we assembled for this project is nothing short of amazing as we have a great mix of salary & hourly team members dedicated to improving process flow, reducing “muda” and fostering a culture of innovation to maximum efficiency. Through collaborative brainstorming sessions, and hands-on exercises, we unlocked new insights and unearthed hidden opportunities for growth. The energy and enthusiasm in the room was palpable as everyone worked together towards a common goal: to elevate our performance and achieve excellence. The spirit of Kaizen is a journey, not a destination, and we're committed to continuously refining and optimizing our processes to stay ahead of the curve. With the momentum gained from this workshop, there's no limit to what we can achieve together. Thrilled to witness the transformative power of the 5S of Kaizen in our organization! 🌟 Embracing this methodology has been a game-changer, bringing about a holistic shift in our approach to processes. Starting with Sort, we've decluttered our workspace, eliminating unnecessary items and paving the way for a more organized and efficient environment. Straighten follows suit, ensuring everything has a designated place, minimizing time wasted searching for tools or resources. Shine emphasizes cleanliness and maintenance, fostering a sense of pride in our workspace. Standardize has brought consistency to our processes, promoting uniformity and making it easier for team members to adapt and excel. Finally, Sustain has embedded these practices into our culture, turning them into habits that endure over time. The 5S framework has not just optimized our operations but has also instilled a spirit of continuous improvement among our team. It's incredible to see how these simple steps can lead to profound changes, enhancing both productivity and workplace morale. Here's to a future of sustained excellence and growth! 💼🌐 #Kaizen #ContinuousImprovement #OperationalExcellence

Kaizen What is kaizen? Is a Japanese term for “Continues Improvement” The core idea behind Kaizen is that by making small, continuous improvements over time, an organization can achieve significant gains in efficiency, quality, productivity, and overall performance. What is really does is that Kaizen promotes a culture of collaboration, where employees are encouraged to suggest and implement improvements, and management supports these efforts. It’s not about radical changes, but rather a steady, evolutionary approach that ensures sustainable progress and innovation. The ultimate goal of Kaizen is to create an environment where everyone is committed to finding better ways of doing things, resulting in higher levels of customer satisfaction, employee engagement, and long-term success. Can Kaizen be applied to patient-centered care in Healthcare? Absolutely! “🏥 Embracing the Kaizen principle in healthcare is a game-changer! 🌟 By fostering a culture of continuous improvement, we empower our teams to identify small yet impactful changes that enhance patient care, operational efficiency, and staff satisfaction. Let’s harness the power of Kaizen to transform healthcare into an even more compassionate, effective, and patient-centered realm. 💙🌱 #HealthcareInnovation #KaizenInHealthcare #ContinuousImprovement"

There is an adage that says, "culture eats strategy for breakfast". SEKO Logistics we are trying to make sure the culture is aligned with our goals as we move forward into 2024. I feel strongly if we get the environment "right", there is almost nothing that will hinder our path forward. If we don't get this "right", no system, robotics, equipment etc. will make a difference. Curious to hear what you see as critical elements in creating a Continuous Improvement and engaged culture! 1. Kaizen Philosophy: Embracing the idea of constant, incremental improvements. 2. Employee Involvement: Encouraging all team members to contribute ideas for improvement. 3. Data-Driven Decision Making: Using data to identify areas for improvement and measure progress. 4. Open Communication: Fostering a culture where feedback is welcomed, and communication channels are open. 5. Adaptability: Being flexible and responsive to changes, with a focus on learning and evolving. 6. Leadership Support: Having leaders who actively champion and support continuous improvement initiatives. 7. Training and Development: Investing in the skills and knowledge of employees to enhance their capabilities. 8. Process Standardization: Establishing and maintaining standardized processes that can be continuously refined. 9.
