We no longer believe what we see; we see what we believe, and that belief is driven by how we feel. This creates our perception of the world. Almost every aspect of digital life is engineered around the subtle art of confirmation bias, from the posts in our social feeds to our search results to ads for the brands we support. The campaigns that get results will be (and always will be) the ones that are authentic to who you are as a brand. It’s a simple matter of respecting our audiences— their time, needs, wants, expectations, and interests. There’s a difference between leveraging your access to people and serving them with authentic stories that inspire action and the scattershot approach, which is intent on hitting the broadest possible audience while saying nearly nothing. This first approach can be a welcome addition to someone’s day: an alignment with their lifestyle. Be that brand. In contrast, the scattershot approach is despised as an unwanted interruption. Don't be that brand.

I’m pretty lucky. I get to work with some of the best founders building for real-life improvements. Bettear’s Itamar Gabbay and Yami Thor, are the best examples of just that. They’re building assistive listening solutions for the hard-of-hearing, who without, feel excluded from concerts, shows, live events and other everyday social activities, and can completely miss out on the experience. But when they first showed us their messaging, it told us the opposite story. There was no: Human element Impact element Inclusivity element So, the first thing we did with their messaging was to identify the key terms that had the potential to change the overall brand tone. Then we created a brand glossary, one that truly communicated their beliefs and values. The result looked something like this: Participate → Experience Users → Community Audio Content → Event / Show / Etc Situations → Everyday Activities This process resulted in an impact-driven identity that: Emphasized the emotional benefits of the product Strengthened company-community relations Maximized clarity Even the best products out there mean nothing if you can’t make your audience feel something. The results are so much more meaningful that way.

👉 But how do you get to know a brand?👈 We keep wittering on about understanding "the brand". So we thought we should define exactly what we mean. You can't take a brand out for a coffee, send it funny memes on instagram to gauge its sense of humour, or introduce it to your friends. Okay, so a brand, much like a person, does have a set of values, a "face", and a way of "talking". However, the client may have a whole bunch of things they WANT the brand to say and do, which may not totally align with what the brand currently DOES. This is where the challenge lies. So: nobody wants to be that company that inundates the client with questions, but even so, this is the nitty-gritty stuff that you have to learn from the people responsible for the brand. It's about starting a conversation – the most important conversation we'll have with a client. Getting to know them helps us to understand their dreams for how their brand should successfully present on international markets: a brand is uniquely defined by the language it uses in internal and external communications. Once we've had that conversation, we're in the best possible position to help our client position their brand in every target market. #management #technology #clientappreciation #teameffort #brandawareness
