We are excited to announce the publication of our latest research on Grapevine Trunk Diseases (GTDs) in Morocco, revealing crucial findings that could transform viticulture practices in the region. We have conducted extensive surveys across vineyards in key regions like Marrakech-Safi, Casablanca-Settat, Rabat-Sale-Kenitra, and Fez-Meknes from 2019-2021. We identified 54 fungal isolates, including new global records such as Diplodia mutila, Neoscytalidium novaehollandiae, Neopestalotiopsis vitis, and Trichothecium roseum. These fungi were the primary culprits behind significant yield losses and the decline in viticultural quality. As an impact: This is the first comprehensive report on GTDs in Morocco, shedding light on previously unknown pathogens and their effects on grapevine health. The findings provide a crucial foundation for developing effective strategies to combat GTDs, promising healthier vines and improved grape production.
