🏠 Scotland’s Housing Crisis: Your Thoughts and Solutions 🏠 We’ve got a serious issue on our hands with Scotland’s housing shortage. We need about 25,000 new homes each year, but we’re only managing to build around 20,000. That’s a shortfall of 5,000 homes annually, and it’s causing real problems. This isn’t just about numbers; it’s about people. Young families can’t find their first home, older folks are struggling to downsize, and many are stuck with sky-high rents or long commutes. It’s putting a lot of stress on our communities and economy. But I believe we can make a difference if we work together. Here’s a few ideas I think could help: Smart Land Use: Pick the right land for new homes in the areas that need it most. Collaboration: Team up with top housebuilders to make sure we get quality homes built fast. Innovation: Use eco-friendly and cost-effective building methods. Community Focus: Design developments with green spaces and amenities that make life better. Advocacy: Push for policy changes and incentives to make building affordable housing easier.
