The invasive spread of #wildingpines has nationwide implications. Wilding pines pose the single largest biodiversity threat to our tussock grasslands. If left unchecked, their rapid spread will transform landscapes into dense, impenetrable forests. This means more than just lost views — it threatens native species, water resources, cultural values, food production, and increases wildfire risks. That’s why iwi, forestry, agriculture, conservation groups, regional and unitary councils, and Central Government agencies have been actively collaborating to address this issue. Great progress has been made, but the job is not yet done. Where viable, councils continue to press on alongside partners in the fight against wilding pines and you can help by joining volunteer groups, managing wildings on your land, and raising awareness. 🌲🌲🌲
