When doctors lost hope, I refused to! I always wished to have my grandparents a part of my wedding, and I fulfilled my dreams Two years ago today, I witnessed a journey that defied the odds, a story that reaffirms the limitless potential of the human body and the profound impact of Excellence Installation Technology. On August 7th 2022, my Nana (Maternal Grandfather) faced one of the toughest battles of his life - a brain hemorrhage at the age of 90, that led to a critical, life-threatening situation. Post-surgery, complications arose, and he fell unconscious for three days. On August 13th, doctors told us his sodium levels were dangerously low, and his condition was critical. Faced with what seemed like the impossible, I stepped into the ICU, determined to harness every ounce of my knowledge and belief in the power of my capabilities, with guidance from Abhisekh, a senior specialist, I began working with my Nana using metaphors, targeted story telling for the generation of new patterns and behaviors, and the remarkable techniques of Excellence Installations. Day by day, I saw him transform. From regaining consciousness on Day 1 to writing with a pen on Day 3, and coming out of the ICU in just 4 days, his progress was nothing short of miraculous. By August 17th, the doctors started removing external support, and on August 21st, just 9 days after I began working with him, Nana was back home—walking with support, communicating, and on the road to a full recovery. What I witnessed was beyond just recovery; it was a testament to the power of impact of advanced techniques when applied with precision, strategy and heart. Today, as I reflect on these events, I am filled with gratitude and a deep sense of purpose. The journey we went through wasn't just about saving a loved one; it was about realizing the extraordinary capabilities we all have when we are aligned with excellence. This post is especially meant for all the fellows and post graduates in IR …. Who wish to be heroic and find it difficult to accept defeat 😈 What matters first? Patient or our success ? Before putting my blade on any patient, I ask for help and say, "God make me do what's best for this patient.” This prayer gives me immense serenity to accept what cannot be done and a great courage to make a decision on when to stop. It should never be - “make me somehow successful and help me get the catheter across ! “ as I have noticed that sometimes our fear of failure never lets us give up and one might end up doing more harm to the patient As healthcare professionals, our ultimate goal is to provide the best care possible for our patients. But how do we define success in patient care? Is it getting our catheter across to difficult locations and feeling proud? Or is it having the courage to make a decision on when to stop and accept what cannot be done? I believe that the mindset of accepting failure and humility with success is the true meaning of success in patient care. It's important to understand that we need to do what's best for the patient, even if it means not getting the desired result with interventional radiology procedure. Sometimes, knowing when to stop is of utmost importance for the greatest good of the patient. In over 50% of patients with positional vertigo, the posterior canal is affected with canalithiasis as the underlying pathomechanism. The treatment of choice is typically the Epley maneuver; however, the Semont-Plus maneuver may be an effective treatment option because the head is tilted more towards the affected side during the movement, resulting in the otoconia moving further toward the exit of the posterior canal. How is the Semont-Plus maneuver performed? ✅ The patient starts by sitting upright. ✅ Head is turned 45 degrees towards the unaffected side. ✅ The patient extends the arm of the affected side. ✅ The patient moves the whole body by 150 degrees or more to the affected side (the head is 60 degrees overextended, and the extended hand is placed on the floor for support). ✅ The position is held for 60 seconds. ✅ The patient moves the whole body by 240 degrees to the unaffected side. ✅ The position is held for 60 seconds. ✅ The patient returns to the upright position.
