IMAGINATION, THE CREATIVE POWER OF THE MIND We are each and every one of us stewards of this world we live in. We have a responsibility to pass on to the next generation a world better than how we received it. We are called to nurture, support, encourage and teach our young generation to dig deep within themselves to find the will and determination to make good of their dreams. To do so, we must ensure that we do not hamper their progress by holding on to the past. The past was once the future for us but now must take its rightful place where it belongs - on the calendar, to allow for continuity, engagement, development and growth in a sustainable manner for those who come next. The young minds must be motivated to explore and maximize their creative imaginations positively in order that they can realize their true potential and experience the wonderful joy of seeing their creations become successes. But Imagination is the product of two shaping forces that influence peoples’ lifestyles. *One force is the stories and teachings that people grow up on – and how these can foster and feed into peoples’ minds one way or the other to the point that they become real. *The other force is the cultural belief that people grow up in, which influences greatly and accounts for the different ways people see and treat others the way they do. These will not change, therefore it is so very important to recognize, support and reward those successful persons, who, from different walks of life, with their ingenuity and creativity and tenacity to reach for the stars simply refuse to look back. You see, when one’s imagination is stifled, forward momentum is destroyed. The world can only be sustained in these complex times by those who thrive on challenges, those who take calculated risks, those who want to make a difference so much so that they can taste it, those who refuse to be a number in a crowd but prefer to stand out in a crowd– such persons’ convictions, drive and tenacity are the pinnacles that centuries are built on. As the world keeps turning, many amazing young minds will build blazing paths and so it goes on…..and on……and on

**From Refugee to Renowned Physicist: The Remarkable Journey of Zhengdao** On November 24, 1926, Zhengdao was born into an affluent family in Shanghai. However, life took a dramatic turn as the outbreak of war uprooted their stability. By the age of 15, Zhengdao and his brother were compelled to flee Japanese-occupied Shanghai, driven by their father's concerns for their safety. The journey they embarked upon was arduous and fraught with peril. They traversed rivers under the cover of night and subsisted on minimal resources, with Zhengdao even contending with severe bouts of malaria. Amidst the chaos, Zhengdao's commitment to his studies never wavered, as he diligently read physics books by the dim light of refugee camps. In 1942, Zhengdao sought refuge at Changshan Middle School, only to flee once again as Japanese forces advanced. Each stage of his journey was marked by significant danger, yet also by an unwavering perseverance. In Ganzhou, amidst working in tea houses to survive, Zhengdao continued his education and excelled academically, eventually assuming the role of educator for younger students. This unyielding determination ultimately led him to the University of Chicago, where he garnered the admiration of his professors. His exceptional talent earned him a scholarship and the mentorship of the renowned physicist Edward Teller.
