The Linkedin post prompt asks: What do you want to talk about? Well, as an end of life educator and death doula, I spend a lot of time talking about what others want to talk about but are often afraid to bring up...death. Here is an article that touches on why it is so important to bring conversations about death into casual, daily discourse: https://lnkd.in/euy8vai2

When it comes to estate planning, we mostly look at what is to come once you’re gone but have you ever considered the lead up to your death and how you would like it to be? Planning for the end of life isn't easy, but it’s one of the most compassionate acts you can do for yourself and your loved ones. By making provisions in your Will or Life File, you ensure that your wishes are honoured and your loved ones are spared from difficult decisions during an emotional time. ✨ Benefits: Provides clarity and peace of mind for your family. Reduces the emotional and financial burden on loved ones. Ensures your legacy is handled according to your wishes. Consulting a professional, like a death doula, can offer invaluable support—guiding you through emotional, practical, and spiritual preparations with care and understanding. 💙 #MarshFidelity #EstatePlanning #LifeFile #DeathDoula #EndOfLifePlanning #SecureYourLegacy

What is a Death Doula? 🖤 If you’ve ever heard the term “death doula” and wondered what it truly means, allow me to shed some light on this sacred and meaningful role. A death doula—also known as an end-of-life guide—is someone who provides non-medical, emotional, and spiritual support to individuals and their loved ones as they navigate the final chapter of life. But let’s be clear: this role is not about prolonging life or hastening death. It’s about honoring the journey, bringing comfort, and ensuring that one’s final moments are filled with dignity, meaning, and presence. As a Death Doula, I help individuals: 🌿 Create a peaceful environment aligned with their wishes 🗣️ Facilitate open conversations around death and dying, easing fears 📝 Assist in legacy work so that cherished memories and stories are captured 🤲 Hold space for grief and offer support to loved ones before, during, and after death Death is a natural part of life, yet our culture often shies away from discussing it. My mission is to normalize these conversations and ensure that people feel empowered to face this transition with clarity, acceptance, and love. Whether you're preparing for your own journey, supporting a loved one, or simply curious about the role of a death doula, I'm here to guide, listen, and support. #DeathDoula #EndOfLifeCare #GriefSupport #LegacyWork #SacredJourney #LifeTransitions #DeathPositive #ConsciousDying #NormalizeDeath #DyingMatters #DeathAwareness #HoldingSpace #YorkRegion #SimcoeCounty #GTA

What is a Death Doula? A non medical person who comes alongside an individual and their loved ones before, during and after death. They provide emotional and spiritual support. An End of Life Doula is trained to help individuals process terminal diagnosis or just prepare for the future. This may include such things as assisting with a legacy project, thinking through advanced directives, vigil, memorial and funeral planning, navigating hospice and palliative care as well as education on death and dying and being present with someone during the active dying process. A Death Doula also is there for short term grief support after a death. They can compliment Hospice but a person does not need to be on Hospice to have an End of Life Doula. #Passingseasons.com#ColumbusEnd-of-LifeDoula#DeathandDying #Yourlastlegacy#DeathCafe

Employers everywhere need to read this article. Modern families need modern bereavement policies. Joy Portella nailed it in Public Relations Society of America (PRSA)'s Strategies & Tactics. Thank you for taking the time to write this, Joy. "Immediate family" policies should expand to match how the world sees family these days. It's not going to cost companies more. It's going to make employees feel seen and valued, and that will pay dividends, always. If you're a PRSA member, you can see the whole story. If you're not a member, DM me.

The National Funeral Directors Association Professional Women's Conference got us thinking about not only a woman's role in funeral service, but in bereavement. The responsibility of handling end-of-life decisions coupled with navigating one's grief journey following a partner's passing often results in an overwhelming bereavement experience for women. At Cadence we believe that the burden of estate related decisions should not fall on fragile shoulders. 💜 In our latest blog, we uncover the frequent disparity women face in the bereavement process and provide guidance in how to mitigate these unnecessary complexities. An article published in The Seattle Times yesterday highlights the lack of resources available for children who have experienced the death of a parent in the United States. Using data from our Childhood Bereavement Estimation Model, the article discusses the disparities in access to bereavement care for many communities across the country and underscores the essential role that appropriate grief support plays in mitigating the negative impacts of bereavement both immediately after a death loss and later in life.
