Following EY's recent announcement of cutting jobs and McKinsey's downsizing announcement, there's a palpable sentiment that the perceived value consultants traditionally brought to organisations is eroding swiftly. In my discussions today with a learned colleague, a prevalent notion emerged: consulting firms are facing a growing trend of being "disempowered" by clients. While certain sectors within the consulting market are experiencing sharper declines than others, it's alarming to note the evolving dynamics. In my consulting space - Business Improvement and Management Operating System (MOS) deployment sector, for instance, there's a noteworthy shift. Some companies are bypassing traditional consulting avenues, opting instead to engage contract personnel through labor hire firms at significantly reduced rates—often less than half of the standard daily rate. This raises pivotal questions about the future trajectory of consulting services. Are we witnessing a paradigm shift where the market no longer recognises the value proposition offered by consulting firms and independent consultants? Is it imperative for consulting entities to recalibrate their fee structures to remain competitive and relevant? I invite your perspectives on this pressing issue. Thanks, Sandra Forero, for sharing this accolade for ZS! I wonder which organization runs this survey and report! Do they have a LinkedIn page? I was not able to find out what "methodology" they followed to rank companies in the list you shared. Among the list of 50 consulting firms that feature in this report hardly have any similarities to compete and rank against the others in the list. Many of the firms are just advisory firms or compliance firms or simply put a tech service provider. ZS belongs to the genres that we have seen in the Peak Matrix reports that Everest Group shares from time to time. One that ZS published in March this year: https://lnkd.in/g8zXN9DN <ZS named a Leader in new life sciences digital services Everest Group PEAK Matrix®> List of companies in this report is extremely confusing as one can see Infosys is ranked No.2 and McKinsey and Bain and Co much lower in the ranks. One would any day consider an Everest Report or a Vault Rating or from Employer branding perspective a report by Indeed or Glassdoor!
