There is something incredibly liberating about taking a leap into the unknown. A little over a year ago, I decided to leave HD+VK and started a new journey with Fringe. It's been quite a roller coaster ride; finally, over two months after our app launched, it's genuinely heartwarming to see designers and studios start using it regularly. The past year has been a whirlwind of emotions, but I'm afraid it is part of the entrepreneurial life. Without any doubt, the most memorable part of this journey has been the people I've met. Individuals I initially contacted as strangers have become invaluable connections, leading me to the right investors, consultants and users. It definitely has been challenging, demanding and risky. Still, the freedom and energy it brings is undeniably worth every bit of effort. About a month ago, a hotel owner approached me to pitch a design for an affordable lifestyle hotel. I was filled with inspiration and freedom to redefine the "normal." We created a design I'm incredibly proud of in just one month. Then, just last week, I was asked to design an outdoor furniture set, which was another thrilling experience. I know I'm dipping my toes into every pool, although all around what I love.  If you're inspired to do something risky but exciting, I encourage you to dive in. The feeling of liberation is unparalleled, and even in a tough market, I've found genuinely kind people willing to help without expecting anything in return. Take the risk. This week is a whirlwind of events for enterprises in the regions. Yesterday, I was delighted to attend the Western Development Commission’s Summit, ‘Reflect and Reignite,’ which celebrated 25 years of Western development. A big takeaway of the day was enabling entrepreneurs to take more risks. Today in Claremorris, the Decade of Success is hosted by the Roscommon and Mayo Local Enterprise Office. Then this weekend, another celebration of Cartoon Saloons 25 years along with #KilkennyAnimated Starting and scaling Enterprises is a challenge no matter where you are. There are additional challenges in the regions, but there is also a wealth of potential. As we geared up for the sale of Bubbl&Co I spent a while pondering my next move. Throughout the process of building the company it became obvious how the potential of good design can radically change the growth and trajectory of a business. Good design not only builds trust between you and your customer but also cultivates long-term loyalty, facilitates fundraising efforts, creates a greater perceived value of your product or service and inevitably allows you to charge more money for what you are selling. The Making of a Nobody Part 81 of TBD A Mid Year Reflection The Studio has big dreams, bigger than any one of us.. It’s been nearly four years now, and the people we’ve met along the way have been nothing short of amazing. Many have become good friends, bringing their diverse and incredible backgrounds and experiences to the table. We’ve faced tough times together and solved some tricky problems, celebrating victories along the way. But it’s all the Nobodies who really bring this adventure to life. It’s all those familiar faces on our calls and the ones who’ve been with us in the past. This is why we do what we do. I always aim to stay positive, and there are definitely more challenging days than others... On those tough days, I think of all of you, our investors, and everyone who believes in what we’re doing. And that makes it impossible to stop.
