I've been thinking about how people living with dementia might experience public and private space, and how much autonomy they can execute over this. This image shows how boundaries can be locked and impassable, versus those that are secure but accessible. The more layers there are in the rings of domicile, the more the person is separated from the world. We need to design spaces so that safety and positive risk taking can occur without shrinking the world.
