It’s a cardinal sin in America to become sick. The system is designed to punish you while protecting the parasitic insurance companies that routinely place profits over patients. It’s truly a sad state of affairs and our elected “leaders” are doing absolutely nothing to change, much less improve, anything.
Unifying resources for nonmedical costs of cancer care is an issue I think about all the time. Each state has its own nonprofits and foundations offering coverage of various pieces, but burden is placed on social workers and patients to find them. Would love to see a national continuously updated resource center and fund augmented with voluntary donations so that every patient can immediately find help for this heavy burden instead of relying on GoFundMe, especially for those less networked.
There is another way. Ask me, please.
These stats are not surprising at all.
Anyone who gets a Cancer should automatically be placed on Medicare. It’s saved me tens in thousands of dollars per month with my medications.
