Security Clearances on LinikedIn - I have to make this recommendation to my Network and my Network's Network - on the issue of government security clearances on LinkedIn - there are currently over 980 million subscribers on LinkedIn, may I suggest instead of specifically stating a level of security clearance e.g. TS/SCI just state "Hold a government clearance" those 980 million individuals do not need to know the level - also a good target for identity theft. If you are applying for a position that requires a clearance the organization will ask. Just trying to help

Alejandro Palacios, NOVA’s Victim Advocacy Training Manager, delivered a thought-provoking webinar on how technology can be misused by abusers to exert power and control, perpetuating abuse. Shocking statistics highlight the impact: - 1 in 3 teens in the U.S. will experience abuse by a partner before adulthood. - 43% of college women report violent dating behaviors. - Alarmingly, only a small percentage of minors and adults disclose online exploitation to authorities or loved ones. The F.B.I.’s Internet Crime Complaint Center noted a staggering 99.95% increase in internet-based crimes against children in 2022 compared to 2019. Cyberstalking affects 1 in 4 stalking victims, while 1 in 12 U.S. adults report being victims of Image-Based Sexual Abuse. While volunteer special constables are a well-established part of British policing, many won’t be aware of their cyber equivalent; Policing Insight’s James Sweetland spoke to the National Police Chiefs' Council team co-ordinating the network of Cyber Digital and Special Volunteers across England and Wales, including an exclusive interview with a cyber special active today. ❝Cyber specials have been used for a range of significant projects, including technical assurance of Police CyberAlarm, darknet market monitoring, training staff around AI, and developing a system to improve the quality of officers’ statements using OpenAI tools.❞ ❝We struggle to recruit and retain people with the right skills, because obviously they’re very attractive once trained up. We don’t do anything around going after threats – that’s for law enforcement, it’s not our remit. The security industry is growing rapidly! Some cool facts about the security industry: 1. It's all happening now -- A 12% projected increase, in job opportunities for security guard occupations. Some key trends affecting the industry include the adoption of new technologies, increasing employment opportunities, increased focus on customer service and training. 2. There's a career path for every service offered. Beyond building relationships with people in the community, the security industry is helping people find a path to excel via: supervisory roles, management, specialization areas (cybersecurity executive protection) and others. 3. Preventative private policing in public spaces is causally linked to both reductions in prevalence of victims as well as higher counts of offenders detected. Security guards, who are dynamic actors of social control mechanism, deter offenders. They prevent crime but also increase detection of new crimes. 4. A survey indicates that security guards actively engaging with local communities have contributed to a 30% increase in community trust, fostering positive relationships.
