Senior Project Manager | Infrastructure & Utilities Specialist | Leading Complex Projects & Strategic Initiatives for Sustainable Development | Experience to ministerial level informing Policy & Strategy.
What will happen at 3pm today? I know there will be plenty of eyes on what infrastructure projects will remain and what will be canned. I thought I would just offer my perspective. I am hoping that Rt Hon Rachel Reeves does NOT cancel the Lower Thames Crossing. If the LTC is cancelled or postponed, then maybe there could be traction for people to find out more about the privately funded option of the Thames Gateway Tramlink Ltd, to help ease the pressure on the Toll Crossing. After all, having three different types of connectivity (4 with the Gravesend Ferry) would greatly help the Essex/Kent & Kent/Essex business communities. Why am I pro-Dartford Crossing alternatives? In the last 10 years, my work has taken me through the Dartford Crossing or over the Dartford Bridge. I have been gridlocked into my places of work at both The Bridge Nucleus & Regus, Dartford (especially at Christmas when the shopping centres of Lakeside and Bluewater have heavy footfall!). I have seen the increasingly poor air quality from the congestion and of course, the impact of accidents and incidents - including the environmental protests. There is so much more I can add, but then it will look like a rant! I just hope that the Lower Thames Crossing is seen as a benefit to transportation of goods, building a better economy for trade and of course, an enabler of careers and successful business partnerships between and beyond Kent and Essex! https://lnkd.in/etjmMucH https://lnkd.in/eYsVmju2 #infrastructure #transport #road #tram #ThamesGateway #ThamesCrossing #LowerThamesCrossing #LTC #KenEX #AirPollution

Totally agree with Macquarie University law professor Cathy Sherry that housing is a basic human need and the property sector needs to be regulated for the community's benefit. There are up to 140,000 vacant homes around Australia (that's a conservative estimate based on other research), with many located in the country's most desirable suburbs. Some of these buildings are uninhabitable due to their derelict states, while others have been deliberately left vacant due to business reasons or development application hurdles. #homelessness #housingcrisis #housingpolicy #housingisahumanright https://lnkd.in/gWbxwBUE
