Co-founder of the first LAPEX program for the complete excision of endometriosis with David Redwine MD, Founder Nancy’s Nook Endometriosis Education, Facebook
As long as the research is not driven by drug companies who have a long track record of misstating the application of the drug and its effectiveness. And when we look at surgical excision of disease and compare it to anything else, control of the skills of the surgeon is a must. So many now take patients to surgery for excision without command of the basics in symptoms, appearance of disease and how it changes, as well as statistical distribution of disease, then stating excision is not any more effective. Likewise taking a pt to surgery without an adequate pre op work up to determine which skills will be needed in the OR is also common, Uro, Thoracic, and GI (all with endo related skills) are often needed and a critical part of a successful surgical traem

🩷 Society for Women's Health Research (SWHR) does it yet again with their Endometriosis Advocacy Toolkit! 🩷 Endometriosis affects 6.5 million women aged 15-44 in the United States, yet it only receives $27 million of the NIH budget— a mere 0.082%. This amounts to approximately $2 spent per patient. For context, the NIH spends $31.30 per diabetes patient and $130.07 per Crohn’s disease patient. Why is a disease that affects so many women still a lower priority? 💡 What Can We Do About It? We can take action by emailing our elected officials! SWHR's latest advocacy toolkit makes it easy with pre-written email templates. Use this toolkit to urge Congress to support the CARE Act, which will: ✅ Advance endometriosis research ✅ Expand access to treatment ✅ Improve public awareness 📢 Let’s make our voices heard and push for the change we need! Check out their toolkit: https://lnkd.in/eTfDV6Qy #Advocacy #Endometriosis #Healthcare #SWHR #CAREAct #WomensHealth
