At a landfill in Texas, LoCI's measurement devices and data trends helped identify gradual vacuum loss — occurring over a weekend — at locations close to the project's RNG plant. The issue could have taken days to find and troubleshoot, but the landfill team used the information from LoCI to quickly locate a malfunctioning sump pump lowering vacuum across the entire wellfield, which had led to a flow loss of 1600–2000 SCFM. Using insights from LoCI's system, the landfill team successfully minimized lost revenue and got the project back on track. Hydrogen infra will be emerging at rapid speed throughout the world. Pipelines will continue to remain the cheapest mode of transportation similar to Natural Gas. This Webinar will focus on the economics of H2 transportation through pipelines - covering both 1) Retrofitting + Blending with existing Natural gas pipelines, and 2) New pipelines Please share your questions that you would like to discuss in this Webinar. #growgreenhydrogen

Carbon dioxide pipeline development is essential for expanding the range of carbon capture projects in the US. Without it, CCS projects must be located near an existing pipeline or geologic storage, or they must directly integrate use of captured carbon in their processes. We outline the challenges (and advantages) facing both greenfield and pipeline conversion projects – from permits to competition. #RaboResearch Nina F.

"The panelists identified key barriers and enablers to scaling New England virtual power plants (VPPs) from utility, regulatory, policy and program perspectives. The discussion also explored how VPPs can be leveraged to achieve energy affordability and equity targets. This panel took place at the 2023 VP3 Member Convening on October 3rd, 2023, in Cambridge, Massachusetts." RMI #virtualpowerplants #vpps #affordable #energymanagement #equity

Developing carbon dioxide pipelines would allow for more robust carbon capture development in the US. Without more pipelines, carbon capture will be relegated to projects located near an existing carbon dioxide pipeline or geologic storage, or to projects directly integrating the use of captured carbon in their processes. Some federal funding opportunities and regulations, like the new EPA clean power plant rules, appear to rely on transport infrastructure development. For new pipelines, environmental requirements need to be navigated before a project can break ground. Existing pipelines have already successfully navigated those, but converting pipelines from other commodities involves technical modifications. And we fear conversion will not always be an option given their capacity utilization and ownership structure. #RaboResearch RaboResearch

Turns out that, to simulate the pros and cons of various carbon storage sites, we need the subsurface knowledge oilfield engineers have been honing for decades. The methodologies require a few modifications, of course, but that’s nothing compared to building dynamic models from scratch. Gino Thielens, Director of Carbon Storage at SLB, explains what's needed to architect a reliable carbon capture and storage migration model. #sustainability #energyinnovation #technologyinnovation #decarbonization #weareslb

One of the many aspects of successfully implementing the national #hydrogen strategy is ensuring material compatibility along the entire gas contact infrastructure. In addition to new buildings, existing plants in the areas of gas production, storage, transport and combustion must also be taken into account.
