In a world that often values self-interest & personal gain, it’s important to remember the power of sacrifice & selflessness. Sacrifice is the ultimate act of love & compassion, demonstrating our willingness to put others before ourselves. Whether it’s giving up our time, resources, or even our own desires, sacrifice has the ability to inspire & encourage those around us. The ultimate test of a man's conscience may be his willingness to sacrifice something today for future generations whose words of thanks will not be heard. Great achievement is usually born of great sacrifice, and is never the result of selfishness. What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us; what we have done for others and the world remains & is immortal. #iQor #MemorialDay iQor

Memorial Day was first designated as Decoration Day in 1868 to honour the fallen soldiers of the Civil War on BOTH sides - Union AND Confederate. It wasn’t made an official holiday though until 1971. Now we acknowledge this special day in the US solely to commemorate those soldiers who have fallen in service to the country in any conflict around the world. Did you know there are certain things you are not supposed to do on Memorial Day? The first and perhaps most important thing is NOT to wish anyone a Happy Memorial Day. It’s not a happy day or a happy holiday. It’s a special day where we recognize the ultimate sacrifice of someone in service to the country. Secondly, you don’t thank a working military person for their service. Again, this day is for fallen soldiers. But you can find ways to recognize the day and remember its true meaning. 🎇Go to a parade if your town has one. 🏛️Visit the Capitol (in person or virtually at Capital.gov). 🎗️Do something for the Armed Services like send care packages or donate to a cause that is important to the Armed Services. 🤫Take a moment of silence at 3pm local time - this is a national initiative. 👨🏻👩🏾👧🏼👦🏽And of course, have picnics or go to the beach with your family to celebrate the freedoms that the fallen have fought for. Whatever you do today, take a moment to remember the meaning of this very special day to honour and remember those who died serving the USA. Have a very special Memorial Day. #FourSquareMindfulness #MemorialDay #MemorialDay2024 #WeRemember #RememberTheFallen #remember #thankful #mindfulness #meditation #MindfulMeditation #gratitude #JustBreathe #LoveIsAVerb #LoveIsActivism #LoveLearningLiberation #DiversityIsOurStrength Photo by Wesley Tingey on Unsplash

This Remembrance Day, we honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice and highlight the stories that are often forgotten, including those of our Black military members and veterans. During the First World War, many young Black Canadians enlisted to fight for Canada. They faced anti-Black racism and discrimination, leading to the formation of a segregated Black Canadian military unit—the No. 2 Construction Battalion—two years after the war started. When these Black men enlisted, they expected to join the others on the front line. Instead, they were deployed to Northern Europe as a labour unit. Due to segregation, they were forced to sail on a separate ship to join the Canadian Forestry Core, where they were subjected to gruelling work and lived without proper medical care or rations. Twenty-three members of this battalion died in Northern Europe during that time. The No. 2 Construction Battalion played a critical part in the war, building rail lines, trenches and bridges. Despite their contributions during the war, these men continued to face anti-Black racism when they returned home to Canada. The members of this battalion fought for the right to fight, and anti-Black racism did not stop them from serving. On July 9, 2022, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, on behalf of Canada, extended an official apology for the treatment of the Black men of the No. 2 Construction Battalion. #LestWeForget To learn more, here are some resources: CPAC: https://bit.ly/3SAG7Sf No. 2 Construction Battalion: https://bit.ly/40uFRGl #WeWillNeverForget #RemembranceDay #CanadaRemembers #LestWeForget #VeteransDay #NeverForget #Canadian #Heroes #Service #Sacrifice #Strength #WeRemember #Legacy #Impact #SocialChange #Advocate #Inclusivity #Diversity #EqualityForAll #Equality

https://lnkd.in/dePzE-ib American Indians and Alaska Natives serve in the Armed Forces at five times the national average and have served with distinction in every major conflict for over 200 years. Considering the population of the U.S. is approximately 1.4https://lnkd.in/dgC2U6m8 percent Native and the military is 1.7 percent Native (not including those that did not disclose their identity), Native people have the highest per-capita involvement of any population to serve in the U.S. military. Subtract and you will see in 1823 the US put the American Indians in harms way. Let's look at the Treaty https://lnkd.in/ebqiNbzN and you will see that was illegal. The US in 1971 reclassified us to Blacks and have not taken care of the loses. The US has never honored the American Indians and must pay for it. This website does not show one American Indian All of the Fake American Indians need to be imprisoned until they DIE. In fact all people who pretend to be American Indians regardless of age must be imprisoned.

On Indigenous Veterans Day, we confront a truth long whitewashed by systemic racism and societal apathy: First Nations soldiers, who fought valiantly for a country that systematically oppressed them, were denied their rightful place in history and honour. For decades, Indigenous veterans were barred from the November 11th wreath-laying ceremonies at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. It wasn't until 1995 that this exclusion was rectified, a delayed gesture of inclusion that cannot erase the years of disregard. The denial of war pensions to these veterans unless they renounced their Indian status is a stark emblem of the ongoing settler colonialism that persists in Canada. This is not a relic of the past but a present-day testament to the resilience of colonial structures. Oppression and racism are alive and well. Our society's ignorance is not innocent; it is a choice—an uncomfortable reality we must face. The lack of widespread knowledge about these injustices is not accidental; it is the product of an education system that has failed to hold itself accountable for the miseducation of its citizens. Settler colonialism doesn’t just live—it thrives in the ignorance of a society too apathetic to learn. This Indigenous Veterans Day, we refuse to allow the bravery and suffering of First Nations soldiers to be sidelined by a narrative that has long favoured the colonizer. We push back against the sanitized history that omits the full price of their service. Resist the comfort of ignorance. Honour means remembering the whole truth. As we honour the fallen, let us also commit to dismantling the very systems that continue to marginalize and silence. Today, we recognize not only the service but the systemic betrayals faced by Indigenous veterans.' It’s time to unlearn, re-educate, and reconcile—not with words, but with actions. The poppy was designed by artist, Andy Everson, of the K’ómoks First Nation, to honour Indigenous Veterans Day. #remembranceday #firstnations #indigenouspeoples #weremember

We remember all who served, volunteered, and died in war, conflict, and peacekeeping. We thank them for their service and reflect on their sacrifice. This Anzac Day, we highlight the contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Thank you to the Deadly Story website for the below excerpts: “Our mob fought in large numbers during the World Wars, despite the fact that they were legally barred from serving. “A strong motivator for many was the promise of fair treatment and equality whilst in the armed forces." Racism still existed in the armed forces. But many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander soldiers have said they were treated better. In World War II, many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander service people were also promised full citizenship rights on their return. When they returned, they "found the same and in some cases worse discrimination, colonisation and injustice as when they’d left". Many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander service people were not respected as veterans. They did not have their contributions recognised. "Recently, through the tireless work of families of service people and others, there has been more recognition of the contributions and bravery of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the military." Adelaide unveiled the first memorial for Aboriginal soldiers in 2013. There are also memorials in Warrnambool and Mildura. Find out more: https://lnkd.in/gzc43S4r #LestWeForget #Reconciliation
