In today's job market, protecting your personal data is crucial. Here are 7 essential tips: 1. Avoid open networks when applying for jobs. Instead, use secure connections like your phone's hotspot. 2. Don’t include sensitive info like your birthdate or address on your resume. 3. Apply only to reputable employers; research unfamiliar companies before sharing your data. 4. Inform a friend or family member when going for an interview, especially in unfamiliar locations. 5. Use trusted job websites like LinkedIn and Monster. 6. Double-check email addresses when applying via email to avoid phishing scams. 7. Trust your instincts; if something seems too good to be true, it probably is. Let’s take a moment to get honest about your cybersecurity job hunting journey… 👇 It it worth it, at times, to take a step back and reflect on all of the work you have put into seeking a cybersecurity role. Feel free to share your answers to the following questions in a comment. My hope with this post is to show you are not alone in this long and often difficult journey: 1. How long have been actively looking for cybersecurity-related jobs? 2. Approximately how many online applications have you filled out? 3. How many times have you revised and revised again your resume and cover letters? 4. How many “recruiter interviews/calls” have you landed? 5. How many hiring manager interviews have you landed? 6. How did these interviews go? 7. What is the most amount of interviews you have been on for one company’s open position? 8. Is this process broken?/ If any companies are listening- what are some ways to fix this process? 9. How much longer do you think you’ll stay in this job hunting journey before you give it all up? (Or never?) Truly honest answers here will help us all see that you are not alone- it’s tough out there. Hunting for a job has both a physical and emotional toll associated with it. One big part of that comes from the interviews themselves. While I can't say that I know what the future holds for each person, I do know that I want to do my part to help make the process a little easier. If you are interviewing for a pre-sales role, as a newcomer to the field or as a seasoned veteran, you should always go in prepared. And to that end, I pulled together a comprehensive guide on how to prepare for interviews (and all the different phases that come along with them). Grab the link to the guide in the comments below. #sales #presales #cybersecurity #hiring #careers

This morning I had a great careers session with Lisa Belmonte Diaz from CAPSLOCK focusing on my answer to the common interview question 'Tell me about yourself'. I don't have any interviews lined up, however, it doesn't hurt to be prepared. Takeaways from this session are: 🌟 Keep your response condensed. 🌟 Write bullet point prompts to create a more natural conversation. 🌟 Write your response to follow this pattern: what you have done and what skills you gained, how this led you to cybersecurity, why CapsLock, why this sector of cybersecurity and why this company and job role. 🌟 This is the most important part of an interview. It is usually the first impression and first impressions count. 🌟 This is an opportunity to sell yourself. Companies employ people on attitude and aptitude now, not just ability. Talking about yourself can make you start comparing yourself to others subconsciously. It should make you realise how well-suited you are to your goal rather than causing self-doubt. I know I compare myself to others or think about why I wasn't short-listed as I'm sure most of you have or do. I have found this quote useful lately because it's true as I'm sure Cristina Magro would agree. Having a positive mindset does help in all areas of your life including job hunting. #opentowork #positivemindset #interviewquestions #interviewprep #cybersecurity

3 tips to finding job openings that are not resume harvesters: 1. Use Your Network: Connect with professionals and engage in discussions about positions you are interested in. Personal referrals are often the most reliable sources for legitimate job openings. 2. Use Reputable Job Boards: Stick to well-known job search platforms like Indeed, and Glassdoor. These sites have verification processes to filter out fake listings. 3. Research the Company: Always investigate the company's website and check for an active careers page. Look for recent news articles or reviews on sites like Glassdoor to verify the company's legitimacy. Do you have any tips to share? If so, comment below to help others. #cybersecurity #jobhunting #job #security
