➡️ Cybersecurity Awareness Month Quotes from Industry Experts in 2024 Tim Eades, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Anetac “In today’s digital landscape, many security breaches stem from overlooked basic security practices rather than sophisticated attacks. This year’s Cybersecurity Awareness theme, “Secure our World,” reflects this oversight. While advanced security tools are valuable, organizations benefit most when they prioritize fundamental practices, including strong passwords, a password manager, multi-factor authentication, and keeping software up to date. “The difference between a minor incident and a major breach often comes down to these basics. Our research indicates that 53 percent of organizations take over 13 weeks to rotate passwords—a gap that creates unnecessary vulnerabilities. As we innovate against emerging threats, we can’t neglect the fundamentals. A modern identity security strategy must combine robust security hygiene with advanced tools for complete visibility into both human and machine identities. “By focusing on a balanced approach—combining sound security practices with advanced tools—organizations can significantly enhance their resilience against potential breaches. Remember: attackers will always choose the path of least resistance. Don’t make it easy for them.” https://buff.ly/3A8y9Zy -- To explore current job opportunities, visit our career portal at https://buff.ly/3MSRmBt Or, if you’re looking to hire the best IT and cybersecurity talent, contact us today at https://buff.ly/3Blml6D. #CybersecurityMonth #CybersecurityCareers #CybersecurityJobs #ITSecurity #RED_SKY_Consulting #Hiring #JobSeekers #StaffingSolutions #ConsultingServices #CybersecurityProfessionals Article Source: https://buff.ly/4e4gW1y

Passionate about securing, protecting, minimizing and retaining DATA | Entrepreneur | Speaker | IT ProBono Consulting| Talks about doing business in Ghana | CTO at EITBS LTD
Cost of Insider threats up by 44% over the last 2 (two) years! External threat from hackers aren’t the only attacks that Cybersecurity teams need to consider for their planning. As a matter of fact, malicious, negligent, and not security aware users (the insiders – regular, some third parties and privilege users) are also a serious concern. An insider attack robs an organisation of their reputation, revenue, and causes Production loss as well as Data breaches. Last year alone, Insider threats caused an average financial damage of 16.2 M USD on an annual basis (2023 Insider Risks Global Report by Ponemon Institute) to organisations. Gartner predicts that the cost of such incidents will grow drastically, and most companies will have to adopt an insider threat program in the next years to mitigate the consequences of such attacks. Stringent measures are necessary to be able to reduce insider threats to a minimum. In addition to having an insider threat program, tools like DLP, PAM, MFA, UBA, SIEM, automated security awareness solutions etc., the right mix of Cybersecurity professionals, and a well-defined mitigation process are very important. Also, insider threat management solutions (Ekran dot com) are available on the market that combine some of the above solutions into one platform. HR needs to screen job applicants with the impact/risks of insider threats in mind, this means for certain sensitive positions, the screening will be more rigorous. EITBS offers Information Security Assessments of your environment as well as provides security solutions with the aim of plugging the Gaps and reducing such threats, so Organisations can have the peace of mind to focus on their business. I would say it's time for more junior roles to open in this area so we can fill this gap quickly as security is of best interest to organisations.
