Hotels in the USA – as well as OTAs and short-term rental platforms – now have to be fully transparent in their fees after the US House of Representatives passed the No Hidden FEES Act in June. Backed by the American Hotel & Lodging Association and the AAHOA, the act targets so-called ‘junk fees’ and directs accommodation businesses to tell guests up-front about all mandatory fees their stay will incur. The act will make it easier for guests to compare like-for-like cost of hotel stays, and creates a competitive playing field for hoteliers. What are your thoughts on the act?
