This #PrideMonth we're celebrating the #LGBTQIA+ community, together! Do you know how the rainbow flag became the symbol of #LGBTQIA+ pride and #PrideMonth? “Our job as gay people was to come out, to be visible, to live in the truth, as I say, to get out of the lie. A flag really fit that mission, because that’s a way of proclaiming your visibility or saying, ‘This is who I am!’” –Gilbert Baker, designer of the rainbow Pride flag To learn more, visit: https://lnkd.in/gk64-Fc

First off, celebrating gay pride shouldn't be something companies have to do, but something they genuinely want to do. 💁🏼♀️ Pride marketing has become predictable. Maybe even artificial. The LGBTIQ+ community refers to it as ""rainbow capitalism"", where the aim is not to champion diversity and inclusion, but to promote consumerism. 🚫 Rainbow logos do not establish brands as allies. To demonstrate genuine support, individuals and companies should take substantial and enduring actions, rather than just participating for a month. 🌈 #RainbowCapitalism #Pride #LGBTIQ+ #PrideMonth #PrideMarketing #Pride2024

Speaker, writer, researcher, educator, consultant, gardener, human. Part of Widerstand Consulting, which works to dismantle institutional racism.
When Widerstand Consulting conducts an anti-racism audit, we always look for other areas where the organization can improve. For example, are people in the organization respecting people's pronouns? Is #ageism a problem? Is there a #culture or #community that is being ignored? We take all of that into account as we create recommendations for the organization. This is PRIDE month. Whether your organization has gone through an anti-racism audit or not, take time this month to evaluate your relationship to and support of your LGBTQA+ staff and community members. Ask yourself how you can be more inclusive and create a deeper sense of #belonging. #WiderstandConsulting #antiracism #pride #LGBTQA+

❤️Today is International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOBIT) - a day dedicated to raising the awareness and calling out the discrimination and violence that is still plaguing the entire LGBTQ+ community globally. 🧡IDAHOBIT traces its roots back to 17 May 1990, when the World Health Organization (WHO) declassified homosexuality as a mental disorder. 💛While progress has been made, there are still 62 United Nations member states that criminalise consensual same-sex relations, and at least 59 countries have restrictions on freedom of expression related to sexual and gender diversity issues. 💚The past two years have seen an increase in anti-trans legislation and further vilification of the trans community. 💙This year's theme is: "No one left behind: equality, freedom and justice for all" — it's a call for unity to creat a world where NO ONE is left behind. 💜How will you recognise and activate this year's IDAHOBIT mission? #IDAHOBIT #IDAHOBIT2024 #LGBTQrights

ARTICLE WORTH READING! On Good Good Good “Drag queen and environmentalist Pattie Gonia dropped a new queer anthem — and we’re all crying” So, have you heard about Pattie Gonia, the drag queen who's also an environmentalist? Well, she just dropped this new queer anthem that's seriously turning heads. I stumbled across an article about it, and let me tell you, it's not just the catchy tunes that are making people buzz:.there's this deep, powerful message in her music that's really resonating with folks. Now, Pattie Gonia isn't just any drag queen. She's using her platform to shout out loud for the LGBTQ+ community, and honestly, it's super inspiring. It's this blend of music and activism that's not just about having a good time but also about pushing for acceptance and empowerment. And as someone who's all for spreading love and support, seeing Pattie do her thing with such passion and flair is a big deal for me. It goes to show, whether you're into drag, environmentalism, or just good music, there's something in Pattie Gonia's work that speaks to you. It's a reminder that being yourself, standing up for what you believe in, and supporting each other can create some beautiful ripples in the world. So, here's to Pattie for not just creating bops but for being a beacon of light and love in the community. (and I’m sure this will be a staple all around events in June!) https://lnkd.in/eUJ2spSt #lgbtqa #diversity #inclusion #thegayleadershipdude #leadership

|Community Advocate | Championing Positive Mindsets & Driving Meaningful Change | Empowering Communities for a Better Tomorrow|
There are few things I would equally like to raise today and even 100 years from now. The quest to stamping out Racism is not for the Black African and Caribbean descent to sort out. It is also for the White folks to be part of the fight to pushing against Racism. Racism requires a United Stand. No excuse, just because you're White and not racist doesn't exempt you from not being part of the change! The very colour of your skin (put your white privilege to good use). It is an advantage to be an Ally and form alliance with Black initiatives for mutual benefits. It's about time we all speak up and hold systems, organisation responsible that play ignorance to their role at stamping out Racism. If we can promote LGBTQ+ in our organisations and fly the flag to show the inclusiveness of sexual identity then we can proudly fly anti-racism flag in our organisations too and wear the badge with Pride! Let's have those uncomfortable conversations with our White colleagues and challenge policy and practices that marginalise the 'others'. To be continued Ignorance is no longer bliss! ‐---I'm She with a United voice for All. #antiracism #blacklinkedin #blackhistorymonth2024 #blacklivesmatter #George Floyd

Drives better innovation, talent management and productivity by building cognitively inclusive cultures - a mix of thinking styles - using inspiration from neurodivergence inclusion.
Thank you to Jennifer Browne for alerting me to this post. I have always found Alan Turing fascinating, but it's only in the last few years that I have started to understand why. One reason is that his route to the multiple astounding innovations he gifted to us is quite different than we might think. Everything I have read tells me that he didn't make the huge intuitive leaps that we tend to think of, but instead focused in a logical, stepwise way on working towards a solution for a well-articulated problem. He also conducted this style of work in a highly collaborative, driven team of people who may not have been as intellectually outstanding as he was, but who brought other gifts to the table that he couldn't. There is more than one way to be creative and innovative!! Innovation truly takes a meeting of different minds, and there is a lot we can all do to help make different styles of contribution more productive so that collective genius emerges. If anyone is thinking that sounds like something they could use more of in their business, then perhaps I can help - please let me know! Another reason is, that as well as being homosexual, as called out in the post of Jo Portlock, he was also very likely autistic. Several features of his behavior ring true if you're familiar with autism, including his love of solitary long-distance running (likely a mindfulness mechanism to clear his head and allay the meltdowns that may otherwise result) and the way that he approached challenging problems, as I described above. We tend to look at one dimension of people when we talk about inclusion, but of course, multiple aspects of our personalities interact to make us who we are, together with the time and culture that we live in. I think that that is fascinating!!

This month is #lgbthistorymonth in the UK, throughout the month i’m going to highlight some key #LGBTQ British icons, starting with a man who we all literally owe our freedom #alanturing the man who created the enigma machine which is credited with ending WW2 years earlier than it otherwise would have. Sadly being gay in the 1950s was not legal and resulted in him taking his life, he has since received a pardon. #lgbthistorymonthuk #lgbtpride #pride #inclusiveleadership #historymakers #learnfromhistory #history #icon

Standing Together for Pride ❤🧡💛💚💙💜🏳️🌈 June is Pride Month, a time to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community's history, resilience, and ongoing fight for equality. 🥳🚀💕 Yet, despite the progress we've made, discrimination and hatred still persist. 🥲 Recently, I came across an instance of this negativity online, and it serves as a reminder of the work that remains. It's disheartening to see such prejudice towards a community that simply wants to live authentically. ❤ Love is Love ❤ At its core, Pride is about celebrating love and acceptance. Everyone deserves the right to live authentically and be treated with dignity. Silence in the face of hate only allows it to grow. 🌈 What can we do to create a more inclusive world? ✍️ Educate ourselves and others: Knowledge is power. Let's challenge misinformation and promote understanding. ✍️ Celebrate diversity: Everyone brings unique value to the table. Let's embrace our differences and create a more inclusive environment. ✍️ Speak up against injustice: If you see something, say something. Don't be a silent bystander to hate speech or discrimination. Together, we can create a world where everyone feels safe and supported to be who they are. 🏳️🌈 #PrideMonth #LGBTQIA #DiversityAndInclusion #Allyship

"As we celebrate Pride Month, I've been reflecting on the phrase 'Nothing for us without us.' Recent events have shown me the importance of this mantra. Well-intentioned allies planned events for LGBTIQ+ individuals without consulting them, resulting in hurt feelings and disregarded emotions. While building allyship is crucial, we must do so without causing harm. Let's center the community at the table and listen to their voices. It's not about what we think is best for them, but about amplifying their needs and desires. In this month of Pride, let's celebrate freedom on their terms, not ours. Let's acknowledge the struggles and resilience of LGBTIQ+ individuals and support them in their fight for equality. Let's strive for true allyship, where we listen, learn, and amplify the voices of the community. Together, we can create a more inclusive and compassionate society for all. #PrideMonth #NothingForUsWithoutUs #Allyship #LGBTIQPlus"
