Pallas had our 3rd annual Christmas party last week. And it gave me the chance to reflect not only on my colleagues and the law practice we have created together, but more broadly on the experience of working together in a company. We were of course only one of tens of thousands (hundreds of thousands?) of companies having Christmas parties in Britain. Most of us do it because we want to, and most of us enjoy it (sometimes too much – must stay out of Roll on Friday…) Which is to say, we enjoy simply spending time with the people we work with – almost as if they’re friends. Which is a weird and a wonderful thing, since most people would say the main reason we work for a company is to make a living, hopefully doing something we like. We don’t says we work for companies to make friends, or to be with our friends. And yet, maybe we do. If not, we’d be a strange sort of species to spend so much time in such circumstances. And if you think back to Covid, one of the things that was so horrible about it – at least for me – was that work was only about WORK. There were none of the pleasant interactions with colleagues (friends?) that played such a part in making work enjoyable (or at least bearable). So I guess all I’m saying is, Merry Christmas to companies, colleagues and friends alike! (The picture is 7 years old, BTW.) #xmas #bahhumbug #backtolawtomorrow

How do you deliver 5-Star service? Think about it. 5-star service means different things to different people. For example, at a recent event, I knew my client cared about creating lasting memories with her friends and family that traveled to be there for her special day! "The Best Party Ever!" Pulling together an unforgettable 60th birthday bash is all about the details—and it’s the behind-the-scenes magic that makes everything run seamlessly. Jen + Tim’s incredible party was a true highlight for me in 2024, and hearing their guests rave about it being “the best party ever” was the cherry on top! From finalising the run sheet to coordinating vendors and even booking extras like Green Jersey shuttle buses to get guests home safely, every little detail came together beautifully. Communication, logistics, and those ‘invisible’ tools like site maps and schedules are what transforms events into extraordinary experiences—and they’re my bread and butter! It was such a joy to step in and take the reins so Jen + Tim could focus on the fun stuff (like celebrating!) while leaving the juggle and queries to me!
