The International Waldenstrom's Macroglobulinemia Foundation (IWMF) is a patient-founded and patient-driven international nonprofit organization with a simple but compelling vision and mission: to have a world without WM (Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia) and to support and educate everyone affected by Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia (WM) while advancing the search for a cure. Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia (WM) is a non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, or cancer of the blood. Ninety-five percent of all lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma (LPL) is WM. WM is a rare cancer seen only in approximately three to five per million people per year, with about 1,500 new cases diagnosed in the US each year. 🩸 Lymphoma is Australia's number one blood cancer.🩸 Nearly 7,000 Australians receive a lymphoma (including CLL) diagnosis annually, making it the prevalent cancer in the 16-30 age group. In 2023, 38% of all cancer cases in 0-19 year-olds were blood cancers. With an average of 452 Australians being diagnosed with cancer per day, this silent battle affects the lives of countless more, emphasizing the need for awareness and support. Lymphoma Australia works to reduce lymphoma's impact through awareness, education, advocacy, and research. Community support enables access to Lymphoma Care Nurses, aiding patients and carers. My goal is to raise $200,000 over the next ten weeks in memory of my dad who lost his battle with leukemia last January. LLS was so important to my family throughout his four-year battle, and I am doing this campaign to give back to other patients and families who are hoping for cures.
