I found this interesting video on Tiktok on a new field that is being developed in the medical industry namely satellite surgeons. The video depicts on how doctors in China are utilizing the combination of satellites and robots obtain plus share data and at the same time perform operations on patients that are thousands of kilometers away. VIAVI Marconi Labs is delighted to share our latest work entitled "Differential Sensing for Rank-Limited Communications", which is now in Early Access in IEEE Wireless Communications Letters. As a candidate technology for 6G, joint communications and sensing (JCAS) aims at adding sensing functionality (traditionally provided by radars) to the communications networks by reusing communication hardware and signals. As specified by 3GPP, JCAS can enable new use cases including sensing of UAVs, humans, automotive vehicles by communication networks in 6G era. In this work, we investigate JCAS for a bi-static scenario where two separate nodes are performing sensing of passive objects. The developed technique provides novel sensing operations using existing communication signals. The method maintains stable communications performance to the mobile users while performing accurate object sensing.
