I help teams increase engagement and effectivity through communication and emotional intelligence | Keynote Speaker | ICF Certified Executive & Life Coach | Author & Igniter of Thought-Provoking Conversations

I believe there are three myths that if we are willing to look at, unpack, and dispel, not only would we be better thought-leaders, but happier and most connected individuals. I believe those three myths are: 1) I'm not creative- Buzzer! Sorry everyone is creative, it's like saying you're a fish and you don't know where the water is. 2) I'm not a good storyteller- Buzzer! Sorry oral history via storytelling goes as far back as the beginning of time, you just need someone to help you mine your stories and the courage to share and shape them. 3) I'm just not funny- Buzzer! Sorry if you're human you have the capacity to be funny, not ha-ha, that's not the goal, but a generous sense of humor and playfulness, that will be a great gift to you and your teams that you lead and are a part of. That being said that doesn't mean we all couldn't use a little angel nudge and support in how to cultivate all three key ingredients. Enter Kelly Swanson a dear friend, colleague, and quite frankly, my coach for when I work on my keynotes and presentations. Her understanding of humor, story, and connection is by far the most extraordinary combination. I've ever experienced. Working with Kelly and joining the Story Impact Academy has been a game changer! Plus it's an aside so you wouldn't know this, but she was trained as a classical pianist so her understanding or rhythm, phrasing, and the art and science of the power of the pause is unprecedented. Check out her free gift on tips to add Humor into your presentation and I think in your life.

You can't be good unless you start... Watch the pros (speakers & actors) for things you like and respond to and practice how to add a similar action to your presentation story.
