A 30 minute commute. Hybrid. Work from home. Company car. A company that cares about the environment. Family friendly. An amazing salary. A start-up. Amazing benefits. If you’re job searching or looking for your next role, what are your non-negotiables? Do you know what you need and want from your next job? If you don’t, maybe it’s time you had a think about it! Before you even think about applying for a job, you need to be clear on what you will and won’t accept. You don’t want to get all the way through a recruitment process and start the job only to realise that you have to get 3 buses and train to get to work and you really wanted something closer to home. Or you don’t want to jump to accepting a job on £10k less if you’re not going to be able to pay your bills! What you want and need from a career is personal to you so don’t be ashamed to think big! As you begin to job search you may dial some of your items back as other areas become more important but knowing what your top 3 – 5 career non-negotiables are will really help you to focus your job search and help you to eradicate any jobs that aren’t going to give you what you want! So for me I need to be in a job where I’m helping people, where I get to see the end result, the hours are flexible and remote. What are your career non-negotiables?
I love this beach I've been a few times with my inlaws Lola 😊
Is that beach in Crosby / Blundell Sands? I'm guessing there's only one like it...! And yes to getting clear on what you will compromise on and what's a non-negotiable.
Getting clear on what you want from your next job is key, but don't forget to ask yourself why you want that job. Getting clear on your why in anything you are striving for in life will help you keep the wheels moving in the long run. A good, solid why from within, that stems from your interets, desires and values. Two non-negotiables for me are remote work and self-employment because they allow me to map out my own days, and travel as often as I like and work on the move. I live in Iceland close to my son, but I love to get home to visit family and friends in Ireland often and I love to experience new cultures and put myself out of my comfort zone in unusual locations, from time to time. Thanks for helping me get clearer on why I do what I do and understanding my non negotiables, Lola 😀 🙌
