Loma Linda University Health is launching the Smoke-Free HOPE initiative, a smoking cessation program for pregnant women in San Bernardino County that was developed in response to recent research on pregnant smokers published by Loma Linda University. Smoking cessation advocates at LLUH have worked to build upon their previous model by designing Smoke-Free HOPE, an approach they believe will lead to even higher cessation outcomes. “By working with the smoker and their household on an individualized level, we feel we can achieve even higher rates of smoking cessation of pregnant smokers that will help make an even greater impact in reducing this health disparity in our county,” said Pramil Singh, DrPH, director of the Transdisciplinary Tobacco Research Program at Loma Linda University Cancer Center and a professor at Loma Linda University School of Medicine. Aap Cigarettes Nahi, Cigarettes Apko Pitti hain Smoking has health effects that are gender-specific, impacting men and women differently. Smoking is associated with lower sperm quality, problems with fertility, and a higher risk of erectile dysfunction in men. Lung cancer, respiratory conditions, and cardiovascular illnesses are all greatly impacted by it. On the other hand, women who smoke have increased risks in areas like fertility, which can lead to early menopause and miscarriage. Smoking increases the risk of many issues during pregnancy, such as low birth weight and preterm birth. In addition, female smokers are more likely to get lung cancer as well as other cancers like breast and cervical cancer. Although cardiovascular problems are a shared risk for all sexes, the unique health consequences highlight the significance of gender-specific approaches for quitting smoking and preventive healthcare. Epidemiology - Sustainable development from the perspective of tobacco control - Publications about actions needed to prevent tobacco use initiation and/or encourage cessation - Looking forward to new connections
I would like to share with you a new paper that I published with my dear colleagues from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health: 'Maternal smoking prevalence in Brazil in 2013 and 2019: not what we expected when they were expecting!'" [https://lnkd.in/dr5wHpBv] The decline in smoking prevalence among non-pregnant women between 2013 and 2019 was accompanied by an increase in maternal smoking prevalence. Monitoring tobacco use during pregnancy is critical for achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for generations to come. Such behavior poses several health threats, given that it negatively affects the fetus and the mother who smokes during pregnancy, the newborn, and the youth/adolescent who will probably grow up in a pro-smoking social environment of greater acceptance of tobacco use, exposing him/her to passive smoking and increasing the likelihood of smoking initiation; additionally, the long-term health outcomes related to sustained smoking will also negatively impact the mother. Ongoing tobacco industry interference and the marketing of tobacco products to vulnerable populations in Brazil pose serious threats to public health. The fact that women smoke in such an important phase of their and their unborn children’s lives reinforces the need to strengthen the implementation of concurrent tobacco control actions, including tobacco excise tax policy and primary healthcare professionals´ tobacco-related assistance during interaction with their patients.

Traditional treatments often don't provide enough relief for fibromyalgia, leading many to explore alternatives like #cannabis. The promising effects of cannabis on pain highlight the urgent need for further research, with the hope of significantly improving and potentially ending the daily suffering of millions of women with fibromyalgia! #cannabis #fibromyalgia #womenshealth

Game-changer for many women! An interesting new “device” was unveiled as a revolutionary healthcare solution for women. Qvin™, the biotechnology research company that developed the first and only healthcare service that collects menstrual blood samples as an alternative to traditionally collected venous blood draws [Jan. 8th 2024] announced FDA clearance of its Q-Pad™ and A1c Test.
