Supporting Barnet residents with free home energy advice to take practical action🔋 As part of our efforts to help residents tackle rising energy costs, we’ve partnered with Groundwork London’s Green Doctor service to launch Barnet’s Free Home Energy Fix. 💚 This initiative offers FREE, tailored energy-saving support to the borough’s most vulnerable residents, including: - A free home energy visit - Energy-saving kits like LED bulbs and draught-proofing materials - Personalised energy-saving advice, tips on switching suppliers, and help accessing government grants With the energy price cap rising and households facing increased financial pressure, this service is crucial in helping residents save money, reduce energy consumption, and stay warm this winter. Eligible households include: - Residents aged 60+ - Families with children under 10 - Low-income households (earning under £21,000) - People with long-term health conditions With 40% of the borough’s carbon emissions coming from homes, the campaign helps contribute to our sustainability goals, of becoming a net zero borough by 2042. ☀️ A warm welcome to all the residents moving in today at West Works. 🏘️ Citizen is one of the largest housing associations in the West Midlands and has taken control of the first completed, SNRG SmartGrid-powered apartment block at the site in Longbridge West, Birmingham. ⚡ The SNRG SmartGrid gives residents big savings on their energy bills, and allows them to live sustainably in comfort, tackling the concerning issue of fuel poverty. 💷 At the same time, housing associations are given the ability to provide these savings to residents because SNRG fully funds, operates and maintains the solar and battery clean energy system. 🚗 We have also installed a number of EV chargers here for both residents and Citizen's fleet. This winter, millions of households throughout Europe are faced with a difficult question every day, can they afford to heat their homes? Many people throughout Europe still rely on fossil fuels for heating in poorly insulated homes. This is detrimental to their health and wallet as it is costing more and more to keep their homes warm. The new Energy and Housing Commissioner Dan Jørgensen recognizes this problem and in his new role, he has the opportunity to fix it. The community grid is a testament to community-led design and delivery with a 100kW solar array and 136Wh battery. Queensland firies will start fighting two fires at the same time, with new trucks running on low-emissions fuels helping extinguish climate pollution as well as out-of-control fires! The Queensland Government has announced a six-month trial of charging just 50c for all public transport trips in the state, regardless of trip length, in an ambitious move aimed at getting more commuters off roads and giving cost-of-living relief before the October state election. The Federal Green Bank makes its first investment from the $1 billion household energy upgrades fund. The programs are part of a new $10.9 billion, 12-year investment in energy efficiency, the largest in Canadian history.
