Can TV development offer long-term job security or a clear career path? I'm not sure any more but I know programs like the Grierson DocLab: Development Training Programme in partnership with Netflix can open doors. If you’re starting out in the industry or trying to pivot, I recommend applying! A friend recently told me she’s applied to 50-100 mid-level schemes this year. It’s a numbers game—and as uncomfortable as that sounds, it’s the reality. The key is finding that balance between pitching a few surefire ideas and grabbing every opportunity for training, support, and funding that comes your way. The Grierson DocLab programme will give up to eight creatives top-notch training, mentoring from industry pros, networking opportunities, and an 8-week paid work placement at a production company. Applications open in February—so make sure to register your interest here: https://lnkd.in/eXhgGRFy #GriersonDocLab #Netflix #MediaCareers #FilmIndustry #CreativeOpportunities #DocumentaryFilmmaking #CareerGrowth #DevelopmentTraining #JobOpportunities #CreativeCareers

Think Twice Before Joining the Film Industry…” 👇 • If you believe it’s all about glamour and fame • If handling rejection over and over again isn’t for you • If you need a regular paycheck to feel secure • If you don’t enjoy solving problems under tight deadlines • If you aren’t prepared to take on unpaid or low-paying gigs in the beginning • If your passion for storytelling isn’t strong enough to fuel you through tough times • If you’re not ready for long, exhausting shoot days followed by late-night revisions • If you think a degree or internship will guarantee your success • If you struggle with sudden changes in scripts, casting, or budgets • If you can’t handle working on projects that might never get released If you’re not in this for the right reasons, you might want to reconsider. The film industry doesn’t need more people with unrealistic dreams—it needs those who are willing to push through setbacks and keep going when things get hard. It’s about having GRIT—the courage, resilience, creativity, and determination to make it. If that doesn’t sound like you, maybe this isn’t your path. But if you love the thrill of creating something from scratch, if you can face uncertainty, adapt to the chaos, and still move forward with your vision… then welcome to the crazy world of filmmaking. --- Follow Bilal Raza for more content like this. ♻️ Share this to help someone else out today.
