Friday marks the 7th anniversary of the Grenfell Tower fire, which claimed 72 lives. This tragedy highlighted the inequalities in our society, particularly in housing safety for low-income and ethnically diverse communities.   Despite promises of reform, progress has been slow. Many buildings still have unsafe cladding, and numerous families live in substandard conditions. This ongoing issue highlights the need for urgent housing policy reforms and stricter safety regulations.   We must ensure that such a tragedy never happens again and work towards a fairer, safer, and more equitable society.   Like many organisations we will be observing a day of silence across all our media channels on Friday. #Grenfell #NeverForget #HousingEquality #SocialJustice #UKHousingCrisis

This builds on Hertfordshire’s 23-year high of successfully delivering the highest number of homes in 2024. “Hertfordshire has always been at the forefront of planning for growth, and these new developments showcase our commitment to sustainable living. As we continue to pioneer in this area, it's crucial that these homes are recognised as counting toward local plan numbers, not in addition to them. Sport England's Uniting the Movement strategy is having a major impact across the UK. 🎯 Our Creating an Active Black Country strategy is closely aligned. In 2025, we are continuing to work collaboratively with local partners to create & maximise opportunities for local people to be physically active. ✅ Work is underway to expand water safety programmes and to widen the impact of Get Out Get Active (GOGA) initiatives. ✅ With partners, we'll launch a new Black Country-wide marketing campaign focused on utilising our spaces and places to motivate people to be active. ✅ A big focus on delivering Year 3 of the Opening Schools Facilities programme. Our key stakeholders and partners, including community organisations, are crucial to our mission to tackle the barriers that prevent people from being active across the region. In the weeks and months ahead, we look forward to forging stronger relationships with existing partners and developing collaborations with new ones to achieve shared visions and objectives. How is our tree canopy changing? From 2010 to 2017, we can observe significant loss of coverage. In Dane County, the Village of Brooklyn, Village of Belleville, Town of Primrose, City of Stoughton, and City of Monona have experienced canopy decreases of 30% or higher. Meanwhile, the City of Madison, Town of Primrose, Town of Perry, and Town of Vermont have lost the greatest total acres of canopy within the county. So, A tidy, well-maintained neighborhood can deter crime but it also boosts property values and make everyone feel more at home. Let’s roll up our sleeves and get to work making our community shine. When our neighborhood looks good, we all feel good.
