We have been nominated for the European Excellence Awards in the Public Affairs category with our client UNSAR - Asigurătorii din România - Romanian Insurers for Coaliția pentru Siguranță Rutieră - Coalition for Road Safety. The project was selected from over 700 projects across Europe and shortlisted for the 2024 European Excellence Awards. Romania has long struggled with the highest road traffic fatality rates in Europe, with an average of five deaths daily and an accident occurring every 80 seconds. To address this, UNSAR, inspired by the EU’s “Vision Zero” goal of eliminating road fatalities by 2050, decided to take action by launching a dedicated coalition. The aim was to bring together diverse stakeholders and create a systemic, sustainable response to improve road safety, reduce traffic accidents, and raise public awareness about responsible behavior on the roads. Since its launch in February 2023, together with UNSAR: 🎯 We have brought 33 institutions and organizations into the Coalition for Road Safety: 3 institutions, 10 business organizations, 9 NGOs, and 11 large companies. 🎯 We launched the White Paper on road safety, the first national roadmap created by top experts to reduce fatal traffic accidents, focusing on public policies, education, and targeted safety projects, aligned with the EU Vision Zero 2050. 🎯 We held discussions with over 20 decision-makers, including the Prime Minister, cabinet members, Ministers of Transport and Internal Affairs, and Members of Parliament from all relevant committees and across the political spectrum. 🎯 We organized 5 high-level events with multiple stakeholders, 3 public debates on road safety in partnership with leading TV stations, attended by 4 ministers, 32 Members of Parliament, and 20 organizations. 🎯 We contributed to raising awareness of road safety issues among the public through campaigns conducted with Ogilvy PR. 🎯 We supported road safety-related legislative initiatives in Parliament through the Coalition for Road Safety. But most importantly, we succeeded in initiating a bill in Parliament to establish Road Safety Week (May 15-21), which is in the advanced stages of the legislative process.
