𝙇𝙂𝘾 𝙈𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙯𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙅𝙖𝙣 2025 This version is special for a few reasons. Firstly, as you may already know, the club celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2024. It’s been three decades since our courses – designed by Jack Nicklaus and Ron Kirby, under the banner of Nicklaus design – were officially opened on a warm summer’s day in Kent. Three decades since former owner Mr. Masao Nagahara’s vision to build a world-class golf venue just outside of London was first realised. Three decades since Nicklaus, Seve Ballesteros and Tony Jacklin became the first three golfing icons to play at this special club. Suffice to say that much has changed since… READ HERE: https://lnkd.in/eHVyj3NW #LGCMagazine #LGCMembers #LondonGolfClub

Reflection, today is about reflecting on the why and where. This abandoned and soon to be developed golf course reminds me of the saying, "what got you here won't get you there". What is the next strategic move for your golf club kitchen and what direction do you need to be heading in? #golf #kitchen #ontario #reflection

Just us, the wild life, and the best modern golf course in the 🌎. Destination golf has taken off over the last few years, the more remote the better the journey. Most know Sand Hills as the design that changed modern golf, and although the golf course is everything you’ve heard, the journey there is just as good as the course. And the views once you get here, can there be a better landscape?

There's a lot in common with venues like an excellent golf course, a climbing facility, and a skatepark; which are all constructed environments that become the backdrop for users to interact with. The way that we setup these venues largely dictates the experience for the user, how inspiring these places are, and generally if we like them and/ or want to come back. Augusta National, the home of The Masters this week, is considered to be one of the best golf courses in the world, but the course wasn't necessarily a "new" set of ideas, because it's deeply tied to the home of golf in St Andrews, Scotland. It's a different setting (St Andrews being a Links course on the ocean, and Augusta being an inland/ wooded course), but the ideas are what were translated across locations, over centuries, and deployed onto a new setting, to create something that's both original and based on precedent. This is how architects work; both golf architects and building architects, to create environments/ settings/ and venues that inspire us and for us to interact with as users. In all instances, we're looking at the past, learning lessons, and applying the lessons, not just the aesthetic. In both St Andrews and Augusta, it was the landforms that helped shape the experience of moving around the dunes St. Andrews and the hills of Augusta. Today, for me, it's the same with many other types of venues. Regardless of if your talking about golf, or a skatepark, or a climbing facility, or a court, or a racetrack; these are all fixed features that users of all skill levels interact with. There can only be minimal adjustment; things like the flag location on a green or the route setting and handhold placement on a climbing wall are the things that augment the particular experience on a given day, but those are minor pieces compared to the material they are being applied to. In all cases, the experience of the user is almost entirely defined by the layout of the venue itself. How you move through it, interact with it, and invent within these confines. This is the same across all these different types of facilities, and the architects who create them are often characters as well More in the video. https://lnkd.in/edMcixXU

Day One In the iconic setting of The Royal and Ancient Golf Club at St. Andrews, with the clubhouse and the eighteenth hole in view, golf mirrors life. The caption, "Golf is an Easy Game that is Hard to Play," highlights a profound truth. While the rules are simple, mastering the game requires skill, patience, and perseverance. Similarly, life's principles are straightforward, but living them fully demands constant effort and resilience. This historic scene at St. Andrews reminds us that both golf and life are journeys where true mastery is achieved through dedication and persistence.
