🌊 Coastal Cleanup Day is tomorrow! 🌊 📅 Save the Date: September 21, 2024 📍 Location: Beaches, rivers, and oceans worldwide Coastal Cleanup Day is a global movement where communities unite to clean up our beaches, rivers, and oceans. As highlighted in our blog post (https://hubs.li/Q02QbXsr0), tackling litter and illegal dumping is crucial for preserving the beauty of our natural environments and enhancing community health, environmental sustainability, and economic stability. The challenges we face with waste management are vast but not insurmountable. In 2016, Borrell and fellow researchers estimated that 23 million metric tons of plastic waste entered aquatic ecosystems from land around the world. These figures can feel overwhelming, especially if your municipality is counting on human efforts alone to identify, track, and prevent litter and debris from entering waterways. There are many opportunities to help keep waterways clean and we can follow the wonderful example set by Keep the Midlands Beautiful. Executive Director Traude Sander assembled a troop of over 200 volunteers across 30 organizations to come together and cleanup Lake Murray, SC. These local leaders cleaned up several thousand pounds of litter and debris from the shoreline! It takes a village, and City Detect is here to help. With our AI powered litter and debris detection, we can supercharge your efforts to reduce solid waste from entering waterways and the ocean. Check out what we were able to detect in Atlanta so far: - 886, 141 pieces of litter - 12,410 pieces of debris - 2,353 debris piles - 938 tires Contact us today to get started: https://hubs.li/Q02QbVvW0 #CoastalCleanupDay2024 #UrbanBlight #AIforGood #CoastalCities #IllegalDumping #Litter #Cleanup #GrassRootsMovement #CityDetect #SolidWaste #Sustainability

This #EarthDay, make every drop count! Stormwater runoff picks up pollutants from our yards and streets as it travels. This can harm fish, wildlife, and the quality of our drinking water. Here are some ways you can help: -Reduce yard waste: Bag your grass clippings and leaves and put them out for yard waste collection instead of leaving them in the street. -Pick up after your pet: Pet waste contains harmful bacteria that can contaminate our waterways. #StormwaterRunoff #Colorado #HappyEarthDay #Dogs #ReduceRunoff #PetWaste

Did you know resin driveways are environmentally friendly? Resin is an incredibly eco-friendly driveway material. Not only is resin permeable to help with natural water drainage, but the driveway itself can be constructed from recycled stones for an even greater assurance of the sustainability of the drive. To protect the diverse and beautiful species of wildlife that we enjoy in the UK, careful consideration needs to be given to the suitability of the materials we use outside our homes. Many driveway materials are unsuitable and unsafe for wildlife simply because they don’t allow for adequate drainage. Without drainage, there is no flood prevention and there is less water for plants to grow and thrive; this in turn means that local wildlife will be without a habitat. In terms of drainage, resin is one of the best materials out there for the protection of wildlife.
