Let’s discuss food security. Did you know that over 14% of Manitobans face Household Food Insecurity? Over 1 in 5 children across Manitoba does not have enough food to eat. How can we ensure that everyone can access healthy food that respects sustainability, culture, and dignity? By working together, we can strive for a future where everyone has reliable access to nutritious food. How can we ensure our community experiences food security? Thrive Community Support Circle focuses on enhancing community well-being and supporting individuals at every stage of life. We offer hot meals every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10 am, and we engage with community members by offering information that enables access to other available resources. Because many people believe that food assistance is a privilege that must be earned rather than a right, they prioritize giving food away rather than ending hunger. Read more about how this attitude hurts your food pantry (and the people you serve) on the Who Deserves to Eat blog: https://lnkd.in/gy_kZu-T #whodeservestoeat #endhunger #foodjustice

Food security can be a problem for fixed or low-income seniors. Sometimes, the cupboards are bare. Other times, there's no enjoyment in the foods that are available, or it could be a matter of low-density foods that don't keep us healthy. At Unison Kerby Centre, we have a seniors-only food bank to help vulnerable older adults when there isn't enough to eat. Our President & CEO Larry Mathieson spoke about this on our blog last September, and it's still just as important now. https://lnkd.in/gtEkn8Qd #foodsecurity #hungryseniors #foodquality #foodquantity #seniorsupport #lowincome #povertyline #lowincome #helpingseniors #unisonkerby #foodbank

Food security and housing stability go hand-in-hand. At AHA, we know that having reliable access to nutritious food is essential for building a stable life. When people aren’t worried about their next meal, they’re better able to focus on maintaining stable housing and other long-term goals. Here’s how we help support food security alongside housing services: 🤝 Connection to Food Resources: We connect individuals with local food pantries, meal programs, and CalFresh benefits to ensure they have access to healthy, reliable food sources. 📋 Financial Guidance: By helping our clients budget for groceries and manage food costs, we empower them to make sustainable choices that support both their health and housing. 🌍 Collaborative Community Support: AHA partners with local organizations to ensure that food security resources are available to those we serve, strengthening our community as a whole. Together, we can create pathways to stability that go beyond housing. If you’re a partner organization or would like to support our mission, let’s connect. www.aha-inc.org #FoodSecurity #HousingStability #LosAngeles

🌱 Fighting the Stigma Around Food Insecurity: Sara's Story of Resilience 🌱 Did you know that one in six Americans is affected by food insecurity? At HelloFresh, we are committed to changing this statistic and ensuring fresh food is available and accessible to anyone in need. That's why we created LimeAid, a program designed to help individuals and families experiencing hardship or lack of food security. LimeAid allows neighbors, friends, or family members to nominate loved ones in need for a chance to win six months of free HelloFresh meals. One inspiring recipient of the LimeAid program is Sara Ariss, a Wisconsin native who unexpectedly faced food insecurity during the COVID-19 pandemic. Recently, Sara shared her story on GMA3 to discuss the stigma around food insecurity and how her own struggles inspired her to give back to her community. Despite the challenges she faced, Sara innovated the operations of local food pantries to better serve families like hers. Join us in applauding Sara's resilience and ongoing commitment to fighting food insecurity. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those in need. Today is #WorldFoodDay, an annual reminder that food insecurity and malnourishment remain a widespread issue. S:US remains steadfast in addressing food insecurity in New York City. Last year, we harvested an estimated 10,200 lbs. of vegetables, fruits, herbs, and honey from our farm and garden network. This year, we continued to expand our efforts by launching a new community fridge in the Bronx, ensuring that no New Yorker faces hunger. Our white paper, “Uniting on Food Justice: An Innovative Approach from a Health and Human Service Organization,” highlights the significant connection between food insecurity and wellness, emphasizing how the lack of access to nutritious food can worsen chronic conditions and mental health. By integrating food justice into our services, we aim to reduce the disparities in access to healthy food for the people we serve. This year’s #WorldFoodSafetyDay theme is “Food safety: prepare for the unexpected.” 1 in 10 people worldwide fall ill from contaminated food each year, which is why it is important to learn how to reduce the risks of foodborne illness. We are all responsible to preserve safe food throughout the supply chain, from farm to fork. 🍓🥕🥗 Read more about #FoodSafety at https://ow.ly/xXRv30sE6lg #Donaldson #FarmtoFork #SupplyChain #Community #SafeRecipes #BACFighters
